Is it possible to take control of emergent factions? Example : Teutonic Order emerges, and I want to play as them. Could I do that, or no?

You can play as the Teutonic order in the late campaign.

I know. I want to play them as they emerge in the early campaign, however.

You cannot select an emergent faction when you start the campaign.
I suppose it'd be possible using a Hotseat game, and the 'Control <faction>' command.

It /is/ possible.
But unfortuneately I know not how.
Wait until somebody with modding knowledge drops in.
