    Default folder installment

    Hi

Could you please, if possible, upload the folders, so that you can install the mod yourself, replacing vanilla stuff? Am Asking since I'm on a mac.

I don't have them mate. Does the normal downloader not work for macs then?

I've no idea who you ought to contact otherwise.

    Thanks.

Sorry I didn't explain better. Macs can't run exe files and the installer for the mod comes in exe files. What I need is the files contained therein, so that I can drag them myself to the data-folder and replace the vanilla ones. This should work I think. unless the mod effects the the actual romeTW.exe file in the root folder? I hope not.

Logically that sounds like that should work.

I've not got the files handy though as I play EXRM. It may be worth posting up some instructions about how to unpack the files from the exe.

I don't think the mod alters the actual RomeTW.exe, as this would be breaching copyright law (I think).

    Thanks

I've tried installing the mod on an empty folder on a pc and then moved the folder over to my mac and started dragging the files to the corresponding folders in my Rome tw directory. However there are some files that go into the BI data folder and I can't tell them apart. There is also a RTR folder with lots of data inside that I have no Idea where to place. Managed to get some new skins and map-texture until it crashed, so I think it should work if I place everything correctly.

So all I need now is the folders and instructions.

Sounds like you need to go with the NON mod foldered version since .exe do not work on a Mac: http://www.twcenter.net/forums/showthread.php?t=104767

Yes, we're getting warm, but I can't open the RTR installer, I have to overwrite the files myslef, but I have no idea where some of the files are supposed to go. Like the RTR folder? Where do I put that?

if you unpacked the .exe on your pc and then moved it over to your mac, why did you drag the folders separately? doesn't the unpacking give you a ready folder structure on your pc? I would imagine you need to drag the entire thing into your Rome: Total War folder, and overwrite all files that have the same name.

that's basically what I do... However if I were to drag the entire folder over it would overwrite all sub-folders, such as the data-folder, which means that it would delete all the content and replace it only with the mod-content. I guess there is some way of doing it right through winrar or something, but I don't mind doing it manually. The problem is though that there are some files and folders in the exe that I don't know where to place, such as a folder called RTR. Does that go in rometw/data folder?

I'm at work, so i don't have my rtw installation here. Are you trying to install the modswitch version? If you don't mind waiting until tonight, when i get to my game laptop, i can guide you through it on MSN or something.

On the other hand, if you drag the entire folder into your RTW folder, isn't it supposed to merge it, instead of overwrite it, and then with files that have the same name you get a pop-up asking you if you want to overwrite or not, and then you chose overwrite to all? In windows it leaves the other files alone, it doesn't delete them. Doesn't Mac do it that way?

How did you figure this out? I am having the same problem. I manually moved all the files but it crashes everytime I try to start a battle or a campaign.

It is because you have version 1.3 for some reason. Only way to do it is to move all data into a pc. Install the update 1.5. Install a mod. Move over all the data to your mac. Show contents on the RTW wrapper and open the info.plist with textedit and make sure it says Applications/rometw/data/rometw.exe or the exe of the mod if your using the mod-switch version.

    Good duck.
