Did anyone catch a glimpse of any tech trees or anything?

And also will all units mass fire?

I like that the tech tree isn't so linear now. Options ftw.

In custom battle and MP battle, you cant shoose early/late any more.
So all the infantry is shooting just with the first rank. Only light inf can shoot up to 4 ranks.

I dont know if there is a technology in the campaign for rank fire or mass fire.

I believe they will introduce Late era in custom MP battles because in an interview Kieran mentioned the Unicorn heavy artillery unit that is playbale but need to be researched. Now I really don't think that such a units would be contained in single player only, beside there is still no complete review of the final version of the game.

There isnt the HMS victory or Trinidad for spain in custom battle and MP battle also.
We played the nearly final version of friday, they wont change that things till release

But i have used the HMS victory in naval custom mp battles. Fro Trinidad I don't know. Did you enter the special code from steam to activate it? It really sounds strange.

Glad to see France has more than 1 province! also looks like theyve dumbed down naval, its mixed in with military tech, which is good i guess.

Any guesses to what some of those techs are?

Napoleon is a huge step backwards from Empire. Now i can see that it has only 1/3 or 1/2 technologies comparing with Empire. Show me the guy who is buying this piece of garbage for the full price.

raises hand. it has less tech cause game is only 20 years or so

Map is alot smaller though which sucks...they have represented the ottoman empire as about a quarter of what it really was, and scandanavia is a joke. no north africa etc. so yeh 60 bucks is a slap in the face by CA but im an addict, and CA is my crack dealer.

Why a tech tree at all?

Like Vrgadin says, the game only covers 10-15 years of time! Technology didn't advance that much over that span. I'd much rather they spend their time on AI strategy and tactics than technology.

I personally wont buy Napoleon because CA fooled me with Empire, its because Napoleon is like a demo or cut version of Empire for the full price. Empire has a huge world map, much more nations and technologies compared with Napoleon, special trade theatres, it goes from 1700 and represents a whole century. There are really no reasons to buy Napoleon, absolutely no reasons but the "better" AI (thats not a fact), but again, there are mods made for you can download for zero cents from here. What is CA thinking? There is absolutely no logics behind that. Empire is the right place and object to improve and build on. It offers so much more than this Napoleon cripple of a game. I hope that other folks are thinking the same and will boycotting Napoleon, maybe that will change something. Have fun with Empire, sorry for my english :p

Im really dissapointed with the cut down techs, fair enough that its a shorter space of time , but perhaps that could be shown in tech by being more specific, such as initial percussion caps, then perfected percussion caps instead of the one tech for instance

It looks simple. That is good for me.
