Would you agree in unmaking Germany as a nation? Just like some people wanted to do in 1945 (there were plans of giving away northern Germany do Denmark). Let us say there is major instability and poverty in 40 years due to lack of resources (yup, today's governments in Europe were too dumb to start enviromental policies) and effects of global warming. Nationalism is on the rise everywhere, EU is broken. Germany gets some ultra nationalist leader who wants to "regain" the "lost lands"...

In an age of self-determination like ours now, I doubt that Germany would actually be handed over to the neighbouring countries. Once it had been defeated, its' military capabilities would have to be reduced to a minimum and the country frequently inspected à la the Treaty of Versailles.

UK, Ger, and France will do most of the fighting. and as soon as you realize you import much of your important resources, you'll feel the strain of how high the gas bill can go these days. and EU is cooperative..in ECONOMY, not military as soon as they try that it will be a tumultuous time for EU leadership, don't you hate your leader(s) already?

Also Finland will HATE you for having this war, they will want to be against it, they've been trying to avoid unfriendliness with Russia for a while now.

Anyway, on a serious note: It would never happen, and if it somehow actually did the EU would end up being the government in Germany, or atleast in control of the German government, to ensure it didn't happen a fourth time. Besides, there's still a lot of foreign soldiers in Germany to this day, the German Army would need to deal with them as well as forces moving on them from France and probably Poland.

True, it was Austria in response to Archduke Ferdinand's assassination by Serbian Nationalists. Austria gave a 10 point ultimatum to Serbia after Austrian archduke Ferdinand was assassinated. Austria mobilized against Serbia for failing to fully abide by the ultimatum. Then the whole domino effect happened with Russia mobilizing against Austria,Germany against Russia,and France against Germany.Great Britain then declared war on Germany when it plowed through Belgium to get to France with the Schlieffen Plan.I referred back to Wikipedia for that as a source,but that confers with other books on WW1 I have read

Well, the main problem was that Russia tried to play "big brother" role for Serbia, which was quite understandable even for Germany. What made the whole thing strange was that Russia decided to fully mobile for fighting Austria, which was completely unnecessaried in the eyes of Germany and even Russia's ally, France. After much of warning from France and Germany, Russia, for unknown reason, decided to play dumb and stubornly mobile all its force. Obviously, it only means war for Germany, and France was dragged into an unwilling war because the dumbness of its ally, which did something France strongly against.

I don't know, it seems the whole event was largely because Russian's extremely poor diplomate skill and silly proudness, which then it got the deserved punishment of Red Revolution.

If Germany did start another World War, then I don't see a problem with dividing it up. I can't see any benefit in handing over its lands to other countries, but de-unifying it would be all right by me.
