Something has bugged me worse than Empire TW, since comparing the similarities between the Napoleon character in NapoleonTW and this photograh of Herbert Lom and that is whether it was actually a deliberate copy. If this was indeed a copy, then it would be a straight forward case of personal image infringement if there had been no payment made to the actor concerned, something that would be unlikely given the large amount of money they would be asking. Both look dissimilar to Napoleon himself or at least his depictions on canvas, to make a coincidental similarity less likely. However everybody here knows how much importance CA /SEGA place on protecting copyright don't we... so would might they have purposefully used the Napoleon in the War and Peace movie to be the basis of their character?
Although now well into his eighties, Herbert Lom is still undertaking acting work although most people remember him as the crazy detective with a nervous twitch in the Pink Panther movies. But does anybody remember his role of Napoleon in the 1955 movie War and Peace. Well it was finding this out and comparing the clips of the movie in Youtube that really sealed it for me. Still would CA have purposefully used the Napoleon in the War and Peace movie to be the basis of their character?
I would therefore like to ask the community this question before dropping Mr Lom and Sega (Europe) a line (referral fee expected), do you also see a likeness and if so do you think it was copied, as I suspect it was.
