Don't pay full price for Napoleon

This game will probably not be great. Early honest previews point to the lack of improvement in AI, and it is a rather limited game, with only European theater. It will be the same siege city game as always. And Ai will not defend it capital as usual. Every preview this far, only MP gaming focused campaign...

Also CA dont wont to support the mod community with empires like in the old days. Over half the time I have used on any Total war games have been playing mods. Total war games with out Mod support, total war loses half it appeal.

I therfor would encourage players who need to play napoleon at release window to buy it a discounted price, rather than full price,

European price :

Steam ask : 54,59 $

Play.com : 28,31 $

Still I am addicted to the total war game play, with the mix of turn based strategy and real time tactical battle. I the fore buy it at a discount price, but I would never pay premium price for a "Empire total war mod". Also if this is a great disepointment like Empires, and if also CA shows the finger to the moding community buy locking the game down, in order to sell more DLC, it will lead to even less willingness to buy their game at premium price in the futher.

I had original made my mind up not to buy this game, but the discounted price tempted me. I guess you get what you are paying for.. I would recomend not buying the imperial edition as this support the anti moding philosophy (Lock moding/ make it hard, and get player to pay for extra units)

I just wouldn't buy it, if you really don't want to support CA. You're still giving them money.

Also if you people seem to hate this game so much then why are you here... All I see is hate threads.

I preordered mine at Gamestop, I just really like the local shop here, have been going there for years. But the only thing that I don't like about the game is the restriction to the European theatre.

Just like to point out, This is not a CA FAN Forum. Its The TWC where people enjoy TW games amongst others.

I like the TW games, but they're making them less and less mod friendly, that's what worrying me. This will be the first time I didn't preorder a TW game, I'll just wait and see.

So will I, I think alot of ol´time fans will wait this one out. Besides, I feel that the release of NTW is to soon, I haven´t played ETW enough.

I agree, for the first time I will not pre-ordering a total war game.

I'm going to await further reviews before purchasing, this game - even if I miss put the extra bonus units!!!

I agree with the post above on NTW been out too soon, and since I have just read the PC Gamer review (82%) it looks too much like ETW.

To be honest it looks like a add-on but full price, seems like the campaign AI is not upto much and though the BAI seems to have improved the review does not seem to be gushing about NTW unlike ETW in the same mag (94%). The reviewer does say they have been a bit timid about a few features and have not been bold enough esp on logistics.

To be honest reading between the lines the multiplayer has improved, but the core game will need further development?? Seems familar.

Anyway back to ETW and DMUC excellant game shame we can't change the map - how about modding tools CA?? Oh sorry we promised that at first but decided DLC would be more profitable.

Yeah the steam deal totally blows. I got the limited edition from buy.com for $38 (free shipping).

Empire Total War is on sale for $10.19 on steam right now. I think I will wait on NTW until there is a steam sale - that way I can read what everyone else has to say about it when they have it in their hands, instead of basing my decision on speculation.

i agree, 40 dollars is a ripoff, 20 dollars is fair for the amount of content as long as you're making the purchase with your eyes open. if you're not versed in the history of the series or the company, or are unaware of the development time for nappy, or post product support... u could end up feeling ripped off even at 20 bucks.

CA takes on fans.

Two groups of fans.

1. Rubs the excrement into themselves while moaning and repeatedly telling themselves that the recent releases aren't terrible.

2. Cleans themselves off. Realizes how bad the recent games have been. Complains about it. (the 2nd group has something called common sense and they don't suffer from blind loyalty.

The excrement is oddly refreshing.
