New to Total War Series, Stuff Not Clear to Me (RTR-related)

Hey folks. I'd like to thank everyone in advance for creating all this stuff.

I discovered the TW series a couple days ago, went crazy, and bought everything available on Steam.

Even after reading most of the FAQs here, it's not entirely clear to me what version of RTR is compatible with RTW Gold, which is the version I have. I'm leaning toward RTR Platinum, but the FAQ there seems to be incomplete, alluding to an item number 20, when there's only 17 or so items on the FAQ. Can anyone clear this up for me?

Hi Evil, welcome to the forum

The only version of RTR not compatible with RTW Gold is RTR Gold (I know, it's confusing ).

Some compatible ones are:
- RTR VII: Fate of Empires (newest)
- RTR VII: The Iberian Conflict
- RTR (6) Platinum
- Extended Realism Mod (submod of RTR Platinum)
- AqD's RTR Mod (submod of RTR Platinum)
- Many many many more

For a full list please check this thread: RTR - Downloads and Mod Index. For every mod listed there, there is stated which version of RTW you need and what patches are required (plus a download link to those patches).

Pat, Aqd's mod is for Alex 1.9.

When I got Gold and found out about RTR, I got RTR(6) Platinum. Best thing you could get out of the list, up to date and works perfect for me. I later got TIC and FoE as they came out.

Nope, Gold is RTW + BI. As far as I know Alexander is seperate, but also included in the Total War: Eras box. (It includes Shogan, Med I, RTW + BI + Alex)

The original gold edition indeed contained rtw+bi, but there`s also a gold edition 2 now that combines rtw with atw and skips bi.

If you didn't know whenever you play a mod of any total war game on steam you must have the this is the launch options which is under properties when you left click on the game. It is -mod: (the title of the mod folder). An example is that I have Extended Realism on my steam so I put -mod:ExRM which is the name of the mod folder in the launch options.
