Did you ever had a moment in a battle/campaign when you said, HOLY SHMOLY. And then you got raped really bad?

This is an example when I found out Gondor had "a couple trebuchets" in their army.



Once I had an army of maxed out elite noldorin troops (heavy archers, swordsmen, spears 6 chevrons). Ready to frontally assault Mordor just like in the Last Alliance. I thought massive fire would easily stop the Trolls, I was so shocked when I saw them running over my battle lines crushing my army, I ragequited the battle.. haven't played the Noldor nor tried another attack on the black gates since then...

well i dont have a screen shot of it but there was a battle in which i had a small, rohan army of elite Cav units helping gondor hold e.osgilith.

the battle occured just outside of the city, a large harad army which my spy had seen, and a mordor army which my spy hadnt seen attacked, together we decimated harad, but just as my Cav were chasing down the last of the haradrim archers, i suddenly realised i had completly forgotten about the mordor army

, i swung the camera view around to see them, just in time, as 72 trolls smashed into the side of the gondorian army, it was pure death! i tryed my best to hold them off, i managed to rout all the orc units, even the generals bodyguard, bar one unit of pikemen, with repeated charges from my cav, but there was simply nothing i could do against those damn trolls!

in the end i managed to withdraw my general from the battlfield (he was a 10 star general, i wasnt gonna waste him on some trolls) along with about a quarter of my men. it was an epic battle, but a massive blow to my allies, had to send them 2 full stacks to conpensate

Though I don´t get raped I have those moments even on the forum, constantly.

I had one in which I was assulted at Minas Ithil (right after I took it). A HUGE stack of Mordor attacked. I forgot to put my allies under my control and I only had about 10 units. In the end the whole area around the gate was black with orcs. And guess what? The people that defended the gates 10 Tower Guard and about 3 batts of 100 Gondor Militia were left with 10 tower guard and about 3 batts of 20-50 Gondor Militia. THe archers were Poo. Killed most of my troops or the ram. Sadly no Pics.... My allies came when they were all routing left and right. I killed them all for my trouble. Gots myself a heroic victory with all my inf and cav with golden chevrons.

I agree, I can't imagine fighting stack after stack of orcs that never stop spawning and have no limit.

just autoresolve, thats what I do when the enemy, stupid as it is, puts 100 armies all consisting of one unit in my lands.

Yeah but the armies in that picture don't contain just one unit but full stacks. Even if you were to try auto resolve them you would lose quite a few men and likely lose the battle since they are all close enough to act as reinforcements.

Yesterday playing as HE. I had gotten E. Osgiliath early in the game, and had seven or eight elven archers, thinking between sallies and the wall I could handle any infantry Mordor could throw at me. Then I got besieged by a full Mordor stack, including 6 Troll Catapults! First trolls I've seen this game! Needless to say, the goggles did nothing.
