Language translator help

I'm not sure if this is the correct place to post this since I'm very rarely active outside the RTW modding section, so if it isn't, please don't stone me.

This is sort of hard to explain, but bear with me. I'm looking for a translating program, either online or DL or whatever, that can translate phrases of differing alphabets into one alphabet or the other.

In simpler words, say I'm translating English to Japanese, for example, and I type in "good afternoon" to be translated, but I want it translated as "konnichiwa" in the English alphabet instead of "こんにちは" in the Japanese alphabet.

I figure since this is the most "International" of forums I'm on, maybe somebody on here can help me out.

Google Translate has an option for displaying in Latin characters...simply type your text you want translated in, then click on the "Show romanization" button.

Here is an example of it in action, using Hindi text:

That's definitely what I need, but it doesn't appear to have that option for Persian, the language I need it for...

The word you're looking for is "transliteration". Googling for Persian transliteration might get you what you need, if you're lucky.

Luck unfortunately doesn't seem to be on my side. All the transliteration programs I find function more or less identically to regular translation programs.
