    Default Empire: Total Lag

So I just bought Empire Total War a couple of days ago and no matter what settings I set the game too, I always get the same fps. Like the game never goes above 15 fps on the campaign map, land battles, and naval battles are actually the worse, they are a slide show going at a blistering 5 fps most of the time.

Is there some kind of fix or magical graphics settings arrangement or is this just a poorly optimized game a la GTA IV and I am boned?

    System:

    Win Xp 32bit Sp3
    AMD Phenom II X4 945 3.0Ghz
    ATI Radeon 5770 1 GB
    2 GB DDR3
    X-fi XtremeAudio

Ditto... no wonder it was on 66% off on steam.

I've looked around the net a bit and found that the game has a massive memory leak with no workaround, I guess just play skirmish until they fix it.

I just don't understand how this could've slipped through the playtesters...

They've had what, like 5 DLC but no patch that fixes this? comeon. I'd PAY for a patch that fixes this b/c it makes the game unplayable. Whats the point of having 50 different new units if you can't even play the game?

Dear bullet that passes through armored vests, it seems to me that you're in need of empire optimizer a great product, made by none other than our endeavor and venturous, and very accomplished, most distinguished, silly old duffer, graham, also know as the king of the lesbos island and arch duffer. go take a look at the mods section.

Now enough of this, you can also take a look if there is no better drivers around, take a look at the ati thread, is a sticky, it might help you with this. (new card beta driver, always trouble)
