    Default New Desktop

    Hey mates,

    I'm going to buy a new desktop, but I can't decide what to buy.

    I want a good gaming computer (it has to run NTW smoothly) I want a good Graphics card, over 5GB ram and over 400gb harddisk memory, (Preferably a monitor too)

    My budget is about 1500 euro's (Not sure if that's doable though) I'd like to hear every suggestions (Up to 500 euro's higher than my budget that is)

    Greetings,

    Lasseman

    It is preferable to buid computer yourself ,or with help of friends of course.
    New Intel processors
    like this for example Intel Core i5 670 3,46GHz / 4MB / Socket 1156
    buy Motherboard which is for Socket 1156
    Memory to it DDR 3 either 1333 or 1600 ,because higher memories would need to be overclocked
    which I guess you might not know how

    Sound Creative SoundBlaster X-Fi Titanium (PCI-E) something
    and video would be
    ATI Radeon HD 5870 1GB ~
    OS Windows 7 64 bit,the better versions,-Pro or Ultimate, of OS have better compability to older games
    and so you set up for gaming
    Fitz Salnarville, Duke William's favourite knyghte,
    To noble Edelwarde his life dyd yielde;
    Withe hys tylte launce hee stroke with thilk a myghte,
    The Norman's bowels steemde upon the feeld.
    Old Salnarville beheld hys son lie ded, 235
    Against Erie Edelward his bowe-strynge drewe;
    But Harold at one blowe made tweine his head;
    He dy'd before the poignant arrowe flew.
    So was the hope of all the issue gone,
    And in one battle fell the sire and son

    There are plenty of videos on Youtube for this kind of thing, Google has tons of results fro PC building guides and the manual you get with the motherboard pretty much tells you what you need to do and it's straight forward. You just need to earth yourself by touching a radiator before handling electronic parts (static electricity can kill computer parts) or the metal frame of the computer case and don't build it on the floor use a table or desk. If you Dad has any tools see if he has a magnetic screw driver, their really useful when your trying to fix the motherboard to the mounting bolts.

    As for a spec - depends what country are you from? Do you have links to online stores that will deliver to you? Komplett if their still around believe cover Holland but that's about the only one I know without googling for more.

    You can link the computer either its components here so people would advice you if the desktop you want to
    buy is not overpriced or outdated .

    Go on dell...
    Google dell and go to the one for your country. There, you can build your computers. They assemble it for you (you just build it as in choosing what specs to give it).
    I've only been looking at laptops recently. Alienware are good gaming laptops.
    But, as for desktops, you'll have to check what you like.
    I'd suggest not only looking at the ram, the processor is really important. For gaming, I'd suggest a dual core or quad core processor.
    Also, make sure the graphics card is good.

    I honestly don't know the prices of computer parts in the EU, but overall that's not a very good computer. It wouldn't be all that good for gaming and it looks awfully expensive all things considered.

    There's no way a 9500 GT is going to run NTW smoothly at any decent resolutions or settings. It's not very future-proof neither.

    I'll try and look on the net and post something up, but I don't know any EU based sites to look for, so it may take a while.

    According to the strength of the currency, at the moment 1 euro = 1 pound.
    Give or take a little.

    That's a pretty poor build the only saving graces are the CPU cooler the Alpenföhn Brocken, it's one of the very rare products that us Europeans get to enjoy first before the Americans do and the case is from Chieftec who are the original company that brought us cases that are suitable for gamers however these days all the other companies have caught up with them and their not as competitive as they once were but it's a still a good case never the less. For some reason you have picked an external DVD-RW, an extra fan, an expensive Core 2 Quad Q9550 CPU (old technology), Windows 7 32bit OEM when you need 64bit, a crappy video card and smallish screen. Try this for size.

    Phenom II X4 965

    Asus M4A78T-E (AMD 790GX)
    Corsair 4 GB DDR3-1333
    Antec Nine Hundred Two mid case

    Gigabyte Rdeon HD5770 1Gb

    Sony Optiarc AD-7240S-0B
    Windows 7 64bit OEM
    Samsung SyncMaster 2233SN 1680x1050 monitor
