    Default Screen Freeze

When I play Empire sometimes my screen freezes up, then the color distors a little. It only happens in multiplayer, and I feel like it mostly hapens during ranked games. It also happens right before the battle starts. I tried uninstalling empire and steam. + rep if you can solve my problem.

the multiplayer is the key, hence don't play multiplayer! just kidding, have you noticed that this only happens in multiplayer, and well this could be syncing issues, when your pc is trying to sync with the other player. But since there is not one alive topic on it, try the yuku or the total war forums. sorry can't be more helpful

Ok. So it turns out it's not a problem with steam, or even empire for that matter. I've only been playing empire for the past 6 months, and seeing as it isn't working I decided to play medieval 2. about 3 minutes into my first campaign (Before my first turn ended) my screen froze. I wish I had a pic but my computer completely stops responding, I can only restart my computer by pushing the power button. So here’s my question, could this be my video card overheating? my CPU fan is making a squeaking sound, could my CPU over heating cause this? I also recently got windows 7, but I don't think this has anything to do with that.
    Thanks

Squeaking sound to me means bearings going bad of which means the fan is not working properly so it will overheat.

You might get by just blowing the dirt out of the case.

Or get a new fan, they are cheap and easy to install.
