    Well that's dumb.
Moscow WASN'T Russian capital during Napoleonic times... What the hell is that?

Now that what I call disinformation.

p.s. I know that this was done due to gameplay reasons, but come on... French capital is Paris, British is London, Austrian is Vienna, but Russian capital is a damn wooden Moscow?

They need to give the option to change your capital in campaign readily and easily, which I dont recall from ETW. Ei-so we can actually have Petrograd as the capital! I loved actually how the "historical" buildings in the capital for Russia were both located in St. Petersburg, and had no business being connected with Moscow.

Read a napoleonic first hand account of a Hessian serving under the french flag

Athenians: For ourselves, we shall not trouble you with specious pretenses - either of how we have a right to our empire because we overthrew the Mede, or are now attacking you because of wrong that you have done us- and make a long speech which would not be believed;.......... since you know as well as we do that right, as the world goes, is only in question between equals in power, while the strong do what they can and the weak suffer what they must.

Does anybody know why Napoleon marched on Moscow instead of St. Petersburg? He must have had a reason...

Because Moscow was the heart of Russia. It was a more strategical location.

Well, it is said that Napoleon said something like this: "If I take Kiev, I will take Russia's legs, if I take St. Petersburg, I'll take its head. But if I take Moscow, I'll take its heart" Unfortunately, He didn't realize that Russia can live without heart

p.s. Actually, despite Petersburg being the capital, it was not very rich in resources. Moscow was the center of russian trade and resources. Napoleon hoped to take it in order to block russian resources supplies (food from Ukraine, arms and artillery from Tula which is near Moscow) and starve st. Petersburg to death.

    Well there we go then

St. Petersburg was the capital, but everything important happened and surrounded Moscow

It would make sense to capitalise Moscow in a game where taking the capital is meant to badly hurt a nation in all aspects

This like saying that New York City is the intellectual, cultural, and financial center of the US, so it makes more sense to treat NYC as the capital in a game. That's absurd. Surely there are ways to balance the gameplay issues.

Quite. There's a balance between gameplay and history going on in the TW games and this is just...agh. It's like Roman assassins and panzerphants.

    One more for the modders.

I totally agree. It`s ridiculous reasoning. I can`t believe people are even saying this. Just keep the names as they were. This is just treating players as idiots. Why not teach them a little REAL history while gaming instead of this childish naming?

All you can hope is they allow Renaming as in MTW2.

I think he means naming your capital (changing your capital would be a more appropriate statement).
