    Default Damn Aragorn

I'm playing as Gondor in my current campaing and on turn 71 Aragorn offered his help to me. I know that accepting his offer will make my stewards bad but I thought it would end if Aragorn would be the steward. So I started killing my steward and finally Aragorn becomes to steward ( he was adobted by some general in my family tree) but even Aragorn has that trait what says something like this: his people are believing that another man should be ruler of Gondor.

It is useless to accept Aragorn to join Gondor army cause he is just one general and makes all stewards bad. Also I noticed that Mordor's faction leader got also that trait that says: his people are believing that another man should be ruler of Gondor.

EDIT. I'm not sure where to put this topic.

How does he "make all stewards bad"?

Well you get a very good and unique general. He should have good traits and he has the hero_ability: ''The_Flower_of_Chivalry'' which might be usefull in battles.

Every steward can have the following traits when you accept Aragorn:
    • BadAdministrator 1 Chance 50
    • NonAuthoritarian 2 Chance 100
    • Noauthority 1 Chance 100
    • Unjust 1 Chance 50
    • DiscontentGeneral 1 Chance 100

I mean that they get trait that lowers authority much, popularity and command also lowers

    Love it...
But yeah it is wierd that Aragorn would be like "NO! I HATE MYSELF AHHH"!

Why doesnt it make it so that when Aragorn comes you give him the trait Faction_Leader (or whatever it is) have Denethor(for example) die (cuz of fire but really because he was eaten by orcs on a battle field 1 to 1000 seriously) and take out the Faction_Heir trait from all the faction heirs. Not sure if it can be done or not... But all the same

I'n my campaing that random general had adopted Boromir, Faramir and Aragorn. Boromir also was my steward for the moment but I gave him a hero's death in battlefield.

The thing, dear Edmund, is not to accept Aragorn. That's what the stewards of Gondor would really do
    Commander, the time has come.

    Execute Order 66.

Well next time when I play as Gondor I'm sure that I won't accept Aragorn

This should definetily be looked after. Because it's really ridiculous that Aragorn undermines his own authority.

Yeah I've noticed this as well. A quick solution could be to give him the exact opposite traits just to cancel the effect?

Maybe not the best place to post this about triggers. But i was wondering are these chances that happen once when Aragorn joins Gondor or is it every turn when he is part of the Gondor army. If the chances are a one off thing then its low if its every turn its highly likely it will happen eventually.

It would be a bit overkill if these traits were triggered every turn.

Aragorn should probably only have good traits, as he is one of the characters with the most positive influence in the LOTR story.

If you adopt Aragorn your steward WILL get the NonAuthoritarian 2, Noauthority 1 and the DiscontentGeneral 1 traits. He will also have a 50% chance to get the BadAdministrator 1 and the Unjust 1 traits. Quite high chances if you ask me, even for a one time only calculation.

This should definitely be looked after. Because it's really ridiculous that Aragorn undermines his own authority.
He does not undermine his own authority but the authority of the steward at that time.

    Read the above.
Aragorn gets the trait too if he becomes Steward of Gondor.

I have to ask that what happens to the Eriador when Aragorn joins Gondor? Does Eriador lose their faction leader?

It is possible to make it so Aragorn doesn't get those "disgruntled steward" traits. I haven't looked into the files but I know it is a matter of a conditional.

However the whole matter is disagreeable. I accepted Aragorn once, and never again. This submod should not be in TATW in my opinion.

    1. Aragorn would never serve the stewards as vassal, if he is the King of Gondor.
    2. The stewards would never accept "that Ranger" into their court given his claim to the throne. Either they recognize him as king or not. If yes, accepting him as a vassal would be humiliating. If no, he would bring the seeds of subversion.
    3. Aragorn is a fine general but not extraordinarily so. Not a gamebreaker. It is not worth it to get him in exchange of some others becoming useless (the stewards no less). When I accepted Aragorn, I actually had to send Denethor into exile in some forgotten fort, so worthless he became. He was governing Minas Tirith very satisfactorily before that.
    4. If you go through all the bother as described by the OP to get Aragorn to power, you just lost a lot of fine generals in the process, but Aragorn will still be just steward not King.
