A question about 8-Inch mortar ?

Hey everyone.
I noticed that when u try to play a single player land battle, and choose Sweden, Spain, or Russia and let the army be automaticly made, you will have 8-Inch mortar in the list (while the only mortar available in the game is 4-Inch mortar), and u will notice that it looks bigger and stronger. But when u remove it from the army list and try to get it again, u can't, as it is not listed in the available units.
I have also tried to get it in the campaign but I couldn't.
So please if anyone knows anything about it or how to get it in the game. then that will be great

Are you talking about Napoleon or Empire?

to answer your question, it's just a bug. it says 8 inch but it means 4 inch. there are no 8 inch mortars in the game.

Actually there are. The Ottomans and the Marathans have them.

Nope... they do have different mortars, but those are called "Bombardment" and "Large" mortars, respectively.

Looking at Le FUSIL, the Large mortar is the same as the westerns' 4-inch; the Ottos' bombardment one has 10 accuracy instead of 15, but is much cheaper.

Umm, I don't think so, they look different, and the 8-Inch mortar has more firepower and less reloading skill.
But it seems like it can't be recruited in the campaign.

There are 8 inch mortars, look at the game files, they arent recruitable however...

Yes in the early patches( I don't know aobut now, haven'' played the game in a long time) you could get 8-inch mortars with computer generated armies, they had great explosions(1 unit on largest scale could wipe out a single line infantry unit with a lucky shot, 1 exploding cannonball once killed over half a unit in one of my games

There are a few units that you start a campaign with but aren't allowed to recruit at the beginning. Even in the RTI campaign, you start with 18-lb field artillery which you can't recruit for a long time. Same with France and coureurs de bois, etc.
