Can some one clarify re the latest ETW upgrade

Can some one please explain what's going on with this update or patch - I have broadband and a very fast PC which does not have a problem with Empire

So last night I left the machine to update ETW - this morning I woke up to find I had only downloaded about 1% of the update and that Steam had frozen up.

So I re-start the game - and get the message that Steam is updating so I leave it alone for about three hours - just now I check on it to see how its going and I see a message that... Empire will be ready to play in 1 day 19 hours ....is this correct or am I missiing something

Also I am seeing alot of posts about CTD's or crashing from many who have the update installed 0 has this been sorted out or am I spending all this time downloading a new nightmare

On the my games page, on the bottom is a button for changing sites. Try them all until you find one that works.

I had to yesterday. The update is over 150mb, so when it starts, don't expect to be playing in five minutes.

This is the problem I have, and I can't see any button for changing site to download from. The only thing I'm offered by 'Server' is the opportunity to watch someone else's game.

ContacT Steam support because of their inadequate servers.

Contact Sega support because you can't get any help from Steam.

Once it gets past your hardware and you can connect, it's between you and them.

This is an issue that really needs resolution. The Steam ETW forum has people with the same problem.

I'm on three days where I can't play. Update is stuck at 3%. Granted, this might have something to do with the fact that I'm in Iraq and my base's internet isn't exactly steller, but it doesn't take me three days to download 150 megs.

I'm a company commander. I am "they." Once the work is done for a day, patrols are in from their missions, reports are send, and so forth then on occasion I try to get a game of E:TW in. Usually a few turns of a campaign I have going.

I started paying attention to my data folder and apparently the whole thing is being revamped: "seasurfaces.pack" is 640k in size at the moment and just appeared in the folder. Gee. I could have sworn it was in there beforehand.

Shouldn't the only thing being installed be a new patch.pack?

Outstanding.

In my news: my E:TW complete redownload got to 15% (which took six days on my Iraqi internet) before Steam decided it didn't like the job and STARTED OVER. Deleted everying again and began from scratch.

I reinstalled the game from the CD (Thank God I was smart enough to do buy the disc version) and now its updating from that. Insh'allah I'll be back up and running today.

My satisfaction with Steam has significantly lowered after this ordeal. Great concept, but needs work.

I found the soloution for the problem where STEAM frezzes the update and you can´t play the game as a result.
