Default Battlefield Walls And Using Them

Why on Earth can I only get my army to stay on one side of the wall. Is this some kind of bug or something?PS - Steams ingame internet sucks.

I assume you mean the walls on open battle fields, not the walls in sieges?
It's supposed to be on one side only to take cover from the other side...
you can choose which side the unit should go by dragging with the right mouse button while over the fence.

I give them the guard order and for the most part they hold tight. Granted some will move if the enemy breaches the wall. I let them target on their own and I give the FAW order....as long as you don't target a specific threat, they will hold behind the walls.

I think I understand your question. Is it:

When I wish to position my infantry on a certain side of a wall in "use cover" mode I have trouble doing it as the red unit future position indicator will only show up on one side ... preventing me from putting the infantry on the correct side. How do I get the unit position thingy to go to the correct side?

The answer is ... that it's really annoying. You have to keep dragging it and experimenting because the difference between having your mouse in the "right" position to indicate which side of the wall is like .0001 millimeters. Don't assume that:

    correct side-------| wrong side
    drag mouse here---|
    -------------------|
    -------------------|
    wall---------------^

Will work. Your mouse cursor may need to be on the "wrong" side of the wall.

    It takes practice. Good luck.
