    Default Your experience in MPC

    Hey there...

Multiplayer campaign... a lot of fun, indeed.

Now, I'm quite bad at ETW, but still win most battles against the AI. However, in MPC I really need a better army to beat my mate, which makes AI factions very dangerous, since they can field larger armies (and we only play in Hard, never VH).

What is your experience? Do you find surviving a big challenge, even if the other player rules a far-away faction? Do you change radically your campaign strategy?

    regards
    Quike

Well, firstly you have to set battle difficulty to "normal". If you Play hard, your mate will get bonus when controlling AI armies (I´m not really sure about that, but its what it seems). It´s in fact a lot harder to survive in a MPC if your mate is better in battles than you, and uses AI armies to cream yours, so I would recommend that you play an "easier" faction to level thing out. For instance you play Britain and him Sweden.

Another thing that can help you is using diplomacy to your advantage. Try to get friendly with your mate enemies and make combined attacks so you can outnumber him. Send armies to protect them by putting your army next to their garrison and stop his advance, and take the opportunity to attack him when AI armies will join. This is extremely fun

    Gracias, Warriorset, thanks for sharing.

We actually play on Normal for battles and Hard for campaign, so that we have a harder time abusing the AI factions.

I'm UP, he's Marathas, and I'm afraid any of us will be defeated by AI nations before we even get to fight each other. Probably me, since I started war for Flandes, big mistake, I guess. The French will cut off my trade route, and UP's income will go DOWN...

it becomes boring because its repetitive. after playing through the 1st few turns a few times, you'll realize that u know all the intricate stuff like where the reinforcements of the AI will be, what the AI's move for next turn will be.

all the best diplomacy options. u dont even need a spy becus u know which battles can be won. etc. yea. wait for napoleon. it might be better.

Quike, actually you just need to play harder. Now that you guys control the AI armies, winning probably comes with more losses. The solution to this is simply to play on a lower difficulty or field larger armies against your AI opponents.

What I realized was I would work best with either: fielding large armies to wage war or: disband those armies to develop your economy once secure.

Note: You cannot really roll over Europe with 2 standing armies like in the single player campaign. Suddenly, you need 4 instead of 2, 6 instead of 4, and so on. To hold my western front as Prussia against my buddy playing France I needed 5 armies and constantly fresh troops. My economy was taxed on 5/4 and 4/4 to counter the money flow from his colonies. I still made it to peace alive even though I was completely landlocked. The same applies to AI factions: They field one full stack, and to beat it you need 1 1/2 stacks or 2 full stacks. No more killing a full stack enemy with half a stack of yours, like in SP. Fewer enemies - good diplomacy - makes it somewhat easier.

Cheers, man. Yep, I need bigger armies, and money to pay for them. And bigger fleets too. Quite challenging! I guess that choosing the right wars to fight is the clue. As you suggest, diplomacy is very important in MPC. I'll try to make some friends...

CA failed miserably at creating a good AI, multiplayer is the way to go. So bad they didn't care about it in previous games, I'd pay for a MTW2 MPC. As for NTW, I'll wait and see if it works properly.

actually, against the average mpc players, autoresolving does more damage. they place their armies in the middle, whereas, since u know where the reinforcements will come from, you put yr army near the reinforcements and wipe them out easily before they join up. sometimes, u even have cannons aiming at the entrance point as early as 1701. =p

they key to winning mpc, or well, ive never actually played one where ive reached fire by rank, make them quit and never play you again, is to blitz.

pretty simple really. my prestige is about 3x my opponent's in 5 turns.

I almost always choose play battle. Every mpc I did take part in so far was "prefer play battle" when chosen. Now I'm curious to play a mpc against you. I guess I will still stand strong when fire by rank is researched

    You have PM

I tried signing up for Multiplayer Campaign. However when I try to activate my SEGA pass it says: User not found (or something like that) Any ideas?

In me and my mates campaign we've decided to go for a World War One effect. We lost the first time around, but this time I'm Austria, and he's Prussia. Went pretty well, we declared war on Poland to capture some land, just before we attack France. I took over Poland, and Galica quickly. We left Poland for a while now. The Ottomans then decided to declare war on my Austrian Empire, so therefore I was to weak on that side, therefore my Ally Prussia, had to send over a huge army. His army raced through the Ottoman Empire, he took Bonsia, Serbia, Greece and Rumelia. I took the one beside Ukraine. Following the failure in cash in my empire, I had to sell some lands - but the problem is, Prussia didn't want them, and no other major or minor nation wanted anything to do with me. I had to give up the regions to insure that I wasen't loosing so much cash. I handed every region I had over to Hannover, then I gave Poland to Prussia. I was left with 2 regions, Austria and Hungary. My Empire has more less failed, the Prussian Army controls Courland, Poland, West & East Prussia, Berlin, and Saxony. I attempted to take over Bavaria for declaring war on Prussia, with my fullstack army agianst his, his army won, crushing my army to defeat.

I don't get it. Did you play coop or versus? If coop, did you actualy fight the battles against the AI?

No, it much better as hotseat. Its not what they announce for the release of Empire, but its definetly a great step forward. Its a online MPC and everyone sits on his own seat. There are some issues and CA brings it, in a clever move, as a unsupported beta.

My experience in the Multiplayer campaign has been spent more in yahoo email than in game transferring save files because of desyncs in battle.
