Problem accessing game

I am trying to access ETW to play a single player game and keep getting a message that the Steam Servers too busy to handle my request. I only play single player and not multi-player so is there any way in which I can avoid the need to use the Steam Servers?

I am sure this has been dealt with in earlier posts, but I have had a quick search and cannot find the answer. Thanks in advance.

Go offline. Then launch the game. Not sure whether it would load though cause of the new patch/update with Elite Units of The East out. Steam games somehow needs to be always in the latest version(Feel free to flame me if i'm wrong about this).

It still won`t work.

You`ll need to go and have the cache checked again in properties. Chances are, Steam wants to reinstall some files again. Another reason not to like Steam. It`s your game, your offline, it should work. Simple.

also,if you actually turn your internet off,steam will force you back on at some stage to update.its done this since the days of half life 2,so its not a true offline mode its a con.
