Default elite units of the east

It seems like the ottomans got dragoons and maratha got some cav. I must say that the heavy cav of maratha is amazing, it will easily defeat a line unit unless they're in square. Just had a match where two units each killed 180 and I seriously didn't do more than point and click.

Hmm...well I havent downloaded them yet as I dont use either country much. I did face in a 2v2 match, the other team were both Ottom. and had all the new units (including cav..) not sure how well they work though. I ambushed their heavy cav, dragoons, and Armenian archers with my goons and longriflemen...killing all of them

    The game crashed after that

How well are the Ottom. units?

Greetings. I play Maratha all the time, my favourite faction. I was wondering If you could post the stats/abilities of the new cavalry units that Maratha acquire?
If you have the extra time I don't suppose you could just post the stats/abilities of all the units included in the package?

My Steam name is Myaethiem, and my in game name is Venset. If anyone wishes to game with me please add me to your friends list since I find it difficult to join games.
(Please note I live in New Zealand)

    Cheers.

EDIT: Found a link which has screenshots containing the stats of the Elite Units of the East, It is in Russian but I'm sure you guys can figure it out

There are actually two and they are both great! They're tougher than other countries medium cav, but have the stamina bonus, so can run around the map non-stop.

the Maratha Rajput Zamindars (heavy cav) seem to be equal to the british Horse Guards. The weird thing is that I never saw such good performance with a horse guard against an enemy line unit 1v1. Rajput Zamindars versus Horse Guards seems like an even match, mostly favoring whomever gains the initial advantage.

It would have been nice to get more than cav for Maratha, but these units really are a nice (though sparse) addition.

I wish they got bowmen, so I wouldn't need to use gunpowder at all Well I would probably need those bayonets for defense anyway.

    Meh.

Marathas got some much needed good stamina light cavalry. They can now at least catch light dragoons and win. (although now that they are 70 range, that should be easier anyway)

Disappointed theres nothing infantry-wise for them. Was hoping for a new line/melee unit with the inspire trait.

Palestinian Auxillary's seem like one of the best cannon fodder units you can buy.

Full 120 men and Morale 8. Combined with how easy it is for the Ottomans to get the inspire leadership trait for janisarry's and you probably have one of the the hardest to break throwaway bullet catcher units in the game.

Only downside is they cost 650, which is quite pricy for militia.

the bowmen are underrated however. the early qing dynasty utilized massed archers even though the utilization of guns in combat originated from china. a Mongolian archer is able to hit a moving target 500ft away with his reflex bow.

the only reason why guns became popular is because it requires little training unlike archery which requires years.

is it only me who think that the Cairo Jenissary is as bad as the other Jenissary?
Only the first rank fires... pretty useless.

But their Palestinian Aux are awesome and Mounted Nizam-I-Cedit also rocks.

Those guys are cool. Their range is only 35 and they only fire in the front rank, but they can break a full line unit in 3 volleys. I just can't see a purpose to them being dragoons. It's so rare for you to ride dragoons to the rear of any army and then dismount without the enemy seeing you and then turning to face you. They might as well not have horses at all and just dismount them at the start of the game.

I've been messing around with them against the AI as well.

I suppose your paying for flexibility. As a cavalry unit they are very similar to Swedish regiments of horse only marginally worst.

    Ottomans Blunderbuss dragoons:

    Cost: 860
    Men: 60
    Morale: 7
    Melee: 10
    Charge: 11
    Melee Defence: 8

    Swedish regiment of horse

    Cost: 820
    Men: 60
    Morale: 7
    Melee: 11
    Charge: 12
    Melee Defence: 8

So they are a somewhat passable unit even mounted, if you happen to need an extra cavalry unit suddenly.

When their dismounted their probably best used like you would use a single file unit of grendiers, held in reserve then thrown forward to break a unit. I suspect they may impose morale shock penalties, like canister shots, since the AI seems to have broken very fast when I've used them.

What we really need is some MP replays of someone kicking ass with them.

Yes someone please gift us with lovely videos of the new units of both factions in a proper battle

EDIT: I bought the Elite Units of the East. So If I can I will make some videos, however I don't have the best graphics so someone else should If anyone wants to see videos of course.

Also I just thought of a tactic. Put the Ottomans Blunderbuss dragoons somewhere you think Is a good spot to disrupt enemy formations or possibly provide some kind of meatshield, dismount and then return the Ottomans Blunderbuss dragoons on foot to your main force or where ever you choose.

I did notice this point about them being good mounted cavalry. I had an interesting game yesterday where I used two Nizam-I-Cedit dragoons and a single Blunderbuss dragoon. what I found is quite pleasing. I dismounted all three on the flank/rear of my opponent and despite going against a couple weakened cav units and a full line unit, they actually won! I had completely lost the blunderbuss unit, but that explains why the I-Cedit dragoons survived, since the blunderbuss took the brunt of the enemy line unit (they have 35 range so were the target of the enemy line). I then mounted these units and was able to ride across the entire map and charge into the rear of my partners opponet. Sorry didn't save a replay because the host quite after his retreating rifles got charged by my dragoons. Perhaps this wasn't a great achievement, since I had 3 units to his 1 unit, with a large price difference.

I am working on a strategy to better use dragoons, so it seems that the key benefit to them is that they can be used as cav, but have decent firepower while dismounted (fire by rank). It seems that you need more than just a single dragoon to do well. Later you can reach the opposite end of the battlefield to help your partner in a moments notice.

lol i edit my above post and another post appears

I like to think of dragoons as a rapid response unit. And If anyone doesn't like how they walk slow when you try to remount them, just manually run them to their horses then click mount.

I now wish there was a crazy melee dragoon though It would probably not be possible because I don't know what kind of stats could possibly be good but not overpowering them while on horse, but imagine a group of guys on horses with melee weapons like swords riding into the enemy and jumping on them then fighting on foot. Yes my imagination is wild, and so is my edit button.

I doubt anyone did this though.
