1. First, you will have a huge advantage in your artillery. Use them to pound the natives into the dust. Use round shot for distances, but when they start to charge, switch to canister for maximum damage. Always have pikemen on the artillery's flanks. If hte natives get to close, you have two options: If there aren't very many enemy warriors, charge with the pike men. If the enemy has many warriors, use the pike wall fromation and move them in front of your cannons. Always do this at the last minute to get the most shots off with your artillery.
2. If the enemy charges, wait until they get close and use some melee calvalry (preferably lancers) and counter-charge. If that isn't enough to drive them off, tell a few infantry regimentsw ot fix bayonets and send them into the melee.
3. Use most of your infantry to pour fire into the natives. Only fix bayonets if it is absolutely necessary. The natives can have a devastating effect in close combat, so unless you have a large numerical superiority, try to avoid close combat as much as possible.
4. The best strategy to use with your missile calvary is to send them at the enemy, ahve them fire once or twice and then retreat, denying the natives the opportunity of engaging them in melee. Repeat this maneuver as many times as possible.
5. Another huge advantage you will have is skirmishers. use them in almost the same way as calvalry, charging, fireing once or twice, and retreating. make sure you either have the skirmish mode locked in, or that you react very quickly, or else the enemy will charge and your forces will be destroyed.
6. Finally, use melee infantry as a screen if one of your missile units is about to be attacked. If you know your forces can't escape, tell a melee infantry to charge at the natives, allowing your missile troops to get away.
