    Icon3 Tweaking High Elves (replacing HE bodyguards with Sindar ones)

    Hi was wondering if anyone could help, I'm a big fan of a pure infantry army, I have been trying too add the Silvan Sindar Bodyguard Archers to replace the High Eleven Cavalry Bodyguard and have almost got it right, however when in battle mode they show up as silver/grey ghostlike characters, I have tried changing textures etc but they then show up with cavalry spears but play as archers which just looks silly. Any ideas of a better way of going about this? Thx.

    You have probably not changed the entries for the weapons they use.

    do this

    open battlemoddels.db[located in unit_models]

    hit ctrl+f and type elf_guard2 (not just elf_guard = sindar heavy archers not bgs....so this is not what you probably should look for)

    and add the folowing lines as perscribed bellow

    1 (delete 1 and turn that to 2)=> 2

    this should do the work!at least it will enable [since you give the ownership in edu to egypt as well]sindar arches for high elves now if you wantr to replace sindar archers with elven mounted body guard it
    is a long procedure!

    ive done this when i added eldar cavalry to the silvan, but they still look ghostly/greywish... i'll check again, but im pretty sure ive added all textures...

    you also have to give the sndar archers to egypt via export_descr_unit.txt

    ownership mongols, egypt
    era 0 mongols, egypt
    era 1 mongols, egypt
    era 2 mongols, egypt

    after comma"," hit space and then write egypt!

    do the opposite when adding eldar cav to mongols

    Hi Yobi, I gave it a brief attempt, last night, have been so busy with work, it kept crashing the game on startup, I will give it another attempt tonight and let you know when completed.

    this is not all ....stills needs some tweaking but this is for starting!

    after d\l that go to edu.txt
    find
    the unit called "ElF_spear_BG" and delete the entry "general unit" form attributes

    it should look like that!
    Code:
    attributes       sea_faring, hide_forest, very_hardy, can_withdraw, free_upkeep_unit, no_custom
    the starting generals will have the original escort
    but the new ones (that will be adopted) will be sindar archers
