Icon14 Great mod but with some little errors... (no trolls here!)

First of all i want to thanks the mod's authors! I've got the game just a week ago and modded it to 3rd age immediatly... IT'S GREAT! I've read countless times TLOTR, TH, Silmarillion and the countless book about middle earth and couldn't really miss this mod!

i was just willing to point out a couple of things i noticed during my gameplay.... (i'm on my first playthrough on eriador BTW)

Well i have to disagree on Eriador's settlements... Fornost is a small feeble castle and is not the capital? Micheal Delving a bigger town than Tharbad? Tharbad was one of the biggest town's in the ME, and a major center in eriador... Also i've found out that some city seems that can't grow in any way from the feeble village status, or you can't build there like in tharbad... are this bugs?

I tought that maybe the nerfing of the cities in eriador was due to it having being too powerful assets at the beginning... If so it might be an idea to split it in the 3 regions that where subsequently crashed, Artedain, cardolan and rudhaur... this would create some extra action in the area and solve the coherence problem.

While i'm a Tolkien expert, i'm not a TW expert, but i have to say that uruk-hai really kicks *ss They could kill easily my eriadors troops even in a ration of 3:1 but i guess it's fine this way. I also noticed that hobbits, when they deplete arrows can attack with knifes, and they are REALLY good at that! (maybe because they were "fresher" than any other unit?)

I'll end with an idea; why not giving to the owner castles/places with palantirs in a "visibility" bonus on the map? that would be really interesting!

Beside that i really like everything from the phrases while loading to the great 3d models, music ecc ecc... you guys made a wondeful work!

I'll keep playing and posting any weirdness or "historical" errors i run into.

Your points about Eriador may be valid, but since the whole faction will be totally redone in the near(ish) future, it is unfortunately pointless to develop a discussion about Eriador as it is now. Here is the re-devlopment thread in case you missed it :

I have the feeling your view is influenced more by Arnorian times. At the end of the third age Fornost and Tharbad were in ruins, so making them small is a really moderate way to express that. But maybe the future option to rebuild Arnor will make you happier...

yeah i read that topic and it looks promising

I consider that part of ME the most interesting, and i can't wait to put back togheter the old realm!

    It's all about the timeframe.
As Hermes wrote, at the end of the Third Age Tharbad was long abandoned as was Fornost. The surrounding poppulation would not even be enough for a TW villiage.

I'm sorry to say this but you contradict the first statement by the second.

Sorry i didn't think that we were talking about the END of the third age, i tought of a "general" or "ideal" third age... I tought the game to be based around 1300 or earlier of 3rd age.

As above we do really have a timeframe in 3rd age? If so what is the year we're playing? as i stated before i tought around 1300, and most of the palantirs would still be in their place.

    AH NOW i understand
then i guess there shouldn't be anything in place of annuminas and fornost by canon story... and IIRC tharbad is nothing more than a place for petty brigands.

I'm surprised of so many high elves on the coasts if the setting is so late...

Hehe, yep, gameplay reasons are kicking in here

this makes lots of sense now i wouldn't mind a "early third age" mod with Angmar still up and the 3 regions of cardolan, arthedain and rudhaur...

in any case i'm glad i can understand what's up, and i guess the region's situation is really generous now... in any case tharbad should be bigger since the giant flood came later
