Anybody ever invade distant nations with 1 or 2 armies? Once as Pergamum I tried invading Italy 20 turns in, then gave up when I realized I couldn't replenish my troops. I rarely lost a battle though and took two provinces before surrendering.

I have tried to invade Ireland as Spain in my most recent campaign. I didn't send enough troops, and was utterly destroyed in my second battle. It would have been nice to take that island.![]()

Invaded Britannia as Pergamum once and abandoned my homeland after, but that ended up in a big FAIL

Once, I invade very powerful Macedonia (2nd place) with all old pre-Marian legions (I was thinking WTF I should JUST disband them).. well all my army and garrisons go to Macedonia (13 full armies).. just auto battles, just looting and abandon cities... Macedonia become weak... That's how I "disband" my pre marian legions by that actions. And after war was over... I send there a part of my NEW imperial army (4 legions).![]()
I did a successful invasion of Egypt with Carthage before using 2 armies. I did the preparation for 15 years (60 turns) while fighting the Romans at Sicily. With 2 full stack army and 2 fleets, I sail from Carthage capital all the way to Alexandria, sieging and capturing it with other 2 major cities in just one year. The enemy retaliate but not able to recapture them. My 2 full stack suffered casualties to 1 and 1/4 but I got the support from the natives as new recruits. I was playing EB...hehe.
Marched my last Republican legion on Arabia to take it from Armenia. They lasted a good 5 years without reinforcements, suffering constant attacks from Armenian half stacks. Eventually they ran out of troops and lost the battle, but it left Armenia nipping at my door long enough for Parthia to stage an Invasion on the Armenian homeland.
I tried invading Rome with my Spartan army. Two of my own modified Spartan Generals, three units of Spartan hoplites, five regular hoplites (modified to use Greek phalanx) plus peltasts and archers and three onagers. They took and raided multiple cities for years until finally my generals and Spartans were killed through brute force. Wish I took a screenshot, but the battle was around 1400 of my guys versus four stacks of 900 each.

in vanilla, i was playing as germany, and my economy was such that i could have 2 full stacks and garrison troops. To improve things, i went around and took over every island in the Mediterranean ( minus the island near israel, that was to far away). It didn't really help much, as i could only end up building ports with 1 or two trade fleets.
