I'm going to write a guide for one or maybe more factions, but I would like to know which factions the community prefers. You should keep in mind that I play RR/RC, so the guide might not be usefull for every single player out there.

You don't see many Lithuanian guides out there and I've never been sure of how best to utilise their units, so i'll go with them

Venice, I've never played as them, and cannot come up with a hypothesis about their true military and strategic play-ability, through mere observations of the AI.
Moors might be nice too.
I expressed interest in the guide making idea, if you don't mind, I'll use this poll to choose which faction to write about. (I'll take what comes third or something.)
Looking forward to indepth strategic guides for factions.
+rep, and the promise of more to come if you deliver.
There's some stuff on Venice here:

Anyway, I might give it a shot too if I get the chance. But for the moment, I'll vote for Lithuania.
I voted Kievan Rus. Every time I want to play them I have problems to decide where to expand first.
It's also hard because you are surrounded by factions who have a lot of HA.
I voted for Novgorod, but i would like to see guide about Cumans too, fighting against endless Mongol armies and being in war with Kiev,Seljuk and Novgorod.
Teutonic Order, That's a tough fight but if you can survive the early stages the roster is excellent and the gampeplay very challenging.
Kievan Rus or Cumans seem the most difficult to figure out to me. Mostly land locked and surrounded by enemies with gaping roster holes in certain area. The economies can be worked with long term but the position and rosters are more difficult to decide what to do about in the short term before the economy gets going.
Any of the large or coastal factions are pretty easy to play with so maybe only late eras Byzantines making good material for a guide as they have some challenges but also opportunities and an interesting roster.
That's just one epic battle, I don't think a tutorial would make much sense as a lot depends on luck. And battle skill, of course, but that's hard to put in a guide.
I never considered writing a guide for one of those factions, I just added them to prevent discussions.
That's good to hear![]()

Kwarezmians Early-Era... do you expand as quickly as possible and pray to God you'll be in some shape to repel those evil Mongols when they eventually show up, or do you try not to make war with anyone and build up for the sole purpose of destroying the Golden Horde?
I have a definite opinion on this, but it would be most interesting to see alternate ways of addressing the problem.
But SS guides are always welcome!![]()

RE: K-Shah
One way to go is gobbling up the rebel settlements and uniting Persia. All the while building your castles thru a rotation of chiv generals. A city full of armored Saracen militia will cost Genghis far more than he can afford.
One may utilize the old Russian stratagem of burn and retreat. In this case each city that the horde claims should cost them
at least three stacks.
Shift your your production emphasis to Alamut and the barbarians will be played out by the time they reach the outskirts of Ray...
Once they are spent recapturing your territory from base-line G. Horde auxiliaries should be a simplistic task.
I think I'll start with a Lithuania guide. I hope to (but probably won't) finnish it in a week, depending on how much time school consumes.
