Icon9 What should I do in Africa now?

I am playing as Rome now, and I have seized control over the majority of Gaul, the Sicily, and the Italian peninsula.

Initially, I took a few cities from the Carthage, about three cities by the coastal line (Forgot the name, I do remember the first city is Carthage the other two is just down below it). Now the Ptolemaic are driving me mad. They just keep sending their full stack of troops to attack my frontiers. I have repulsed them numerous times, but they are not stopping.

I only have two legions there, and I dont think I can hold them back any longer. (I already lost one in the battle) I was thinking maybe I should pull back my troops and concentrated on the European continent to attack the Germanic, and the Macedonian. But on the other hand, I really dont want to give up my cities without a fight to the Ptolemaic.

So what should I do for now?

Recruit some more stacks and build numerous forts at the borders. So they would at least need 15 turns to reach your settlements.

You should have enough money to recruit more legions. If not, I recomend fortifying European borders (normally easier due to forests, rivers, mountains, etc, unlike vast desert plains) and moving armies (not fort garrisons obviously) to Egypt to help push the Ptolemaics best. That's how the Romans did it. Colect all your strength and aim it at the enemy's strong point. Break that, and they die.

Fortify your borders, recruit a nice sized fleet, and sail into Alexandria/Memphis with siege weps+legions, sack both cities and burn every building to the ground, then leave.

Or if you don't mind a little micromanaging, send a small army of spies and assassins to Egypt, determine where their largest cities are and sabotage as many barracks as you can. They'll continue to send stacks but w/o heavy infantry most are toast.
