Default Economy in a perpetual state of depression

How do I improve this in my KoJ campaign? I've been conquering lands, building economic buildings (roads, markets), to no avail.

Always at -5. It doesn't help that my markets get the "doing poorly" event for almost every turn, and has maybe spent 2 years out of 24 at normal levels.

It's little probability that it will change by anything done ingame. Trust me, however...

    1. You can just ignore it - You don't die, you just struggle.

    2. Belive it or not, I have no idea what you mean here: "and has maybe spent 2 years out of 24 at normal levels. "

    So the conclusion is:

A.) Restart your campaign. ( I know it burns, but I have confidence it will be moderated in DLV 6.3. I personally never have a problem with it)

B.) Shall Option A fail you, then you may ask this dude politly. Tell him that Sivilombudsmannen-Wille told you to ask for advice about this paticular issue - and he will surley help you deal with this issue once and for all.

    Good luck,

    ~Wille

Men sprang away from him both ways, but he slew many. Thus he cleared the way forward to earl Hring's standard, and then nothing could stop him. He slew the man who bore the earl's standard, and cut down the standard-pole. After that he lunged with his halberd at the earl's breast, driving it right through mail and body, so that it came out at the shoulders; and he lifted him up on the halberd over his head, and planted the butt-end in the ground. There on the weapon the earl breathed out his life in sight of all, both friends and foes. [...] 53, Egil's Saga
I must tell you here of some amusing tricks the Comte d'Eu played on us. I had made a sort of house for myself in which my knights and I used to eat, sitting so as to get the light from the door, which, as it happened, faced the Comte d'Eu's quarters. The count, who was a very ingenious fellow, had rigged up a miniature ballistic machine with which he could throw stones into my tent. He would watch us as we were having our meal, adjust his machine to suit the length of our table, and then let fly at us, breaking our pots and glasses.

Trade Agreements, even though you kind of limited in the middle east since everyone hates you. Id go and start island hopping, get Crete, Rhodes and maybe Sicily. Then trade with the Byzantines, Venice, Sicily and maybe some of the Muslim nations over in Algeria.

Put a lot of emphasis on your economy instead of military and try to stay at peace with neighboring powers for the time being.

Thats all i have for Jerusalem, their kind of on their own way over there so it will be tough.

    Good luck

    Thanks for the responses.

I restarted with a new Lombard League campaign. Same thing: first few turns my markets get the "disaster in your markets" event, which never goes away. Building markets gives me no gains. Honestly, I just wish there was a way to eliminate these events. They have caused me tons of frustration over the various versions of DLV; they frequently seem bugged. 90% of my time is spent with "disaster on roads", "disaster in your markets", "disaster in your mines." Same thing-- I go straight to depression (-4 and -5) levels and never recover, despite conquering and building solely economic-related items. Despite having trade agreements with everyone around me (and beyond). It flat out sucks.

Try to get trade rights with other nations, recruit merchants. Maybe they are in disaster because nothing is happening
