    Default Cimbri campaign

    Cimbri Campaign:
    Faction: Cimbri
    Campaign: Other factions (0-turn recruitment)
    Engine: RTW-BI.exe
    Difficulty level: M/M
    Testing purpose: Gameplay

    Introduction
I had been asked to play a test campaign to see what the gameplay is like, so here I am
I chose to test the Cimbri because I always prefer small factions and I didn't want to chose an all to obvious one like Rome or Macedon or something. I don't know what the common testing difficulty is, so I went for the default setting: M/M.
A pretty long time ago I did play a couple of RS 1 campaigns, but other than that I'm not very familiar with the RS gameplay. So this also is actually my second RS II Cimbri campaign, because with the first try I discovered after 5 or 6 turns that there was the 0-turn, which I had completely forgotten about so I was happily recruiting all my units one at the time. Anyways, I started a new one quickly but this time with the 0-turn thingy in mind.

Another small note: I usually auto-calc the battles except the important/interesting ones. Fighting the battles your self always takes a lot of time, which I prefer to spend on the campaign itself. So most of my report will then also be about the campaign instead of the battles

    Impression
The first impression you get when you start this game is simply awesome! A very cool splash screen followed by evenly so cool loading screens. After that you arrive in the completely overhauled menu, which definitely looks good as well, and with the new music it makes for a completely new experience
The only thing that could potentially be confusing is the imperial/provincial campaign option. So I took the liberty to fix this (see attachments). The "Rome - provincial.lnt" should be placed in all modfoldered campaigns and the other should be placed in the main data folder

    The Beginning

When I started my Cimbri campaign, I was a bit surprised to notice that I was actually making money! And not just a bit, but loads!

But I think this has more to do with my play-style than with the balance because I'm used to having not too many armies... So far I don't really have any problems with this since there are only a couple of rebels I have to deal with, but I expect that I really have to train more armies when I start to encounter more real factions, forcing me to spend all that money.

Something else I noticed is that every faction has about the same progress in it finances, except Rome, which is really booming. It could of course be that this is intentional, I don't know... But I thought to simply mention it

    My current situation:

The first thing I did was get an army together and invade modern day Sweden. Seeing that ones you hold these lands, you're likely not going to lose them anymore behind the safety of the water. making it a nice little garrison-less money generating place. if I'm not mistaken you have the possibility there to build mines, which makes it even more interesting.

After taking this city, I directly moved on to Rugium. Before I attacked the city I got some reinforcements from Suthano. to make my nearly full stack a completely full stack. This allowed me to take the city without too much problems.

    Future
I expect the most usual way to continue this campaign would be to have the main focus on expanding to the South. However my plans are to expand only a little South to have a bit of a buffer between the enemies and my homelands, but my main focus will be on Britain. First objective will be to kick out the Belgae there with a surprise attack. After that I will have almost no resistance here anymore besides some rebels (and the second rebel faction in special). Seeing that Britain has quiet a few cities in it, I expect that to become my main money generator.

When I have full control over Britain, Denmark and the most Northern bit of Germany, I intent to continue my fighting on two fronts:
    - From Britain invading Gaul, starting with the Belgae who are a direct thread to my homelands as well.
    - From my homelands having an expedition going East. Not necessarily to start a war with faction like the Sarmatians and such, but more in the hope to take as many rebel cities as possible and then some trade rights with those factions.

But that's all pretty far in the future and currently I only have taken two cities so far, so I hope I can make my plans come true

Overall, it's really a great looking game and I'm having lots of fun playing it! So props for you all

I expect to be able to continue my campaign/report later this day. Let me know if you need any specific information or if I just have to continue my report as I'm doing now

Great to see you here mate.
You usually got large amounts of money in the beginning but once you expand out of you home region you will have a hard time with the economy.

Just added the menu layout changes that Pat made (Thanks, Pat!!) - "provincial campaign" item removed from main menu and mod foldered campaigns now shown as the main campaign in those mod folders.
