Default Fire arrows not damaging seige towers?

So I got a Jihad called on my capitol and was defending my castle. The enemy had 2 seige towers, and I had 3 units of muslim archers shooting at each tower, using fire arrows. When I hovered my mouse over the siege towers it said 0% damage... and they made it all the way to my walls with 0% damage. Is this a glitch or how do I destroy them?

Another question: How long will this Jihad last? Can I get it to end any faster?

Fire arrows will either ignite a siege tower (thus rendering it useless and destroying it), or not. It'll stay at 0% until the bastard catches fire, at which point, goodbye siege tower.

Best time was when three units of Moutaroti caught a siege tower alight...while two units of dismounted Ghulams were inside it.

Since the Jihad was called, the AI have 10 turns to join. Every general that joins in that window will have to die before the Jihad is over. Or abandon the Jihad, but I don't think the AI does that.

Factions that have not joined yet can do so for about 9-10 turns, after that they can't. But if they have already joined, they can keep sending stacks against you, untill you finish the last one.

Not correct. Even if a faction have already joined a jihad/crusade, they cannot add more generals to the J/C after the timelimit has passed. All generals must join within the given window. Ofcourse, it might take some time for them to get to you, so it'll seem like they just keep sending new J/C stacks.

You can check that yourself. Join a J/C on the last turn, and then try to have another general join a few turns later. It'll say that it's too late to join.

If you say so. I'm sure I joined crusades much later, but on the other hand it was vanilla 1.2 or something.

Doesn't the Jihad end if the imam who proclaimed it dies (assassination, ...)?

No it can not stop because of a dead imam. The easy way to handle jihads/crusades is to train godd assasins and then kill every foe that thinks your town is a good target.

IMO assassins dont do too much so I like to send some javalin cav if I have some or horse archers to take the general out

Hmm, in Vanilla the Pope could request that more people join the Crusade if the numbers began to dwindle, I don't think it worked the same for Jihad factions. Therefore, only once either all Jihad generals are dead or if the target city is taken will the jihad end.

Cheat: If you give the settlement away to a Muslim faction the Jihad will end. Of course, you are free to take it back then, although this lowers your reputation a bit.
