that's why you must kill it first of anything with some heavy cavalry, let something other than a cavalry unit take the first volleys and have the cavalry take the light drags out, light drags chasing light drags really is what you want first, then when he decides to turn around, your heavy cavalry will be there to help!
....?

What's the point of this thread?
If it is that light dragoons can get high kill counts one probably should mention that everything can get high kill counts, it just depends on how the game plays out.
It isnt just that Light dragoons can get high kills, but that they usually get near the highest kills on average. I create all kinds of armies, including ones that focus on certain types of units. Even if I throw in Light dragoons as an afterthought, they still are in the top 5 kills on average.
However I think this thread is kind of redundant. There aren't that many people who don't think Light dragoons are OP. The only balance to the game is that everyone can purchase them.
okay, LDs are OPed yes but, it doesn't make it impossible to take them out quickly, i am usually able to take out the enemy's LDs quickly and precisely in the beginning of the game by rushing them although this is risky and requires a bunch of micro that a normal player might not have, sometimes i screw up which is very aggravating as it shouldn't be so important to take out these units as they aren't even that expensive.. I usually waste a cavalry taking them out too which is aggravating.
when they shoot u in a melee, thats when i get reallyyyyy annoyed. thats the most OP thing ever. like when its 1 curai vs 1 drag in melee and hes shooting AND meleeing.
i dont think men of the same regiment will wait at the back watching their friends fight while taking a smoke. melee should have the entire regiment fighting. i'd like to see go throughs where 1 cav unit charges and emerges on the other side of the enemy. especially in cav vs cav. and if they happen to stop for a melee, they'd have the entire unit fighting. 1v2 1v3 etc. not queue up and die.
I wouldn't mind quite as much if every faction had them but some, like France and eastern faction don't have them.
That said, it's not as if they're unbeatable. Just keep in mind where they are and don't do things like charge heavy cav into their volley, and you should be okay.
reduce light dragoon numbers to the same as normal cav numbers and i think most people will be happy.
i dont say stuff to retort you, i say stuff in hope that CA will improve the game.
and if your words might sway them in the wrong direction, i'll argue against it. its pretty personal really. =)
oddly enough with my playstyle, light dragoons rarely get in the top of my kill lists and I take them with me almost every game. Then again, I found out this past weekend that I can't play 4v4 on flat grasslands at all. There is no room to flank your direct opponent, so my dragoons seem to charge straight at the enemy rifles.
My rambling here has a point. I think the reason people get such high scores and thus think they're over-powered is the way they play. I've taken upon myself to never play with rifle units or more than 2 light dragoons. It puts me at a severe disadvantage against the better players, but at least I don't feel I'm following the same formula that everyone is is doing. This makes the game more enjoyable to me.
What do you really expect, for them to nerf dragoons? IMO I can handle dragoons, it's the rifles always running away from my line that annoys me more. The last time they nerfed something (i.e. mortars, fergs or jagers) we ended up with another unit being the problem. As much as I'd like them to nerf a unit I dislike, I think it's basically asking them to write a game to my playstyle rather than challenging me to be a better player.
So other than making your own personal playstyle better, why would nerfing dragoons make for a more enjoyable game to others?
edit: stupid me, I write this and the first thing I see afterward is that dragoons got nerfed to 70 range! I guess everyone got their wish!

I'm the same way aletoledo. I put my own limits on certain units. Usually no more than 2 Light dragoons. I rarely bring more than 4 rifles. It's usually 3 rifles and 2 skirmishers. I also find it fun to mix every type of unit in my build.
It's not that it gives me any advantage, rather just the opposite but I just find it more fun to make weaker units work. I think if you're a good player you should be able to make whatever army you have work.
I've already established playing US or Britain with elites and rifles will get you win most of the time, I just dont see the point in repeating what I already know.
I do believe it would have been from a big community against them then just a thread with 174 views in a sub-forum that CA employees never look.
This:http://www.twcenter.net/forums/showt...+Stallonewould be the most likely fix to LDs due to CA frequenting the Napoleon forums and has 3500 views.
Just saying.
