Default Need help with Uninstalling :S

    Hello TW.
    Hey
I've got a problem with uninstalling SS 6.2(The game was great fun!), I have deleted all the files that were installed with SS. Atleast thats what I thought, the problem is however that once I open the kingdoms launcher "Stainless Steel" is still listed as a launch option, besides Teutonic, Britannia etc. The game however is deleted "completely". I haven't got vista, but I've got Steam installed.
Can anyone give me an input on what to do? I've already deleted the entire game, and reinstalled it, however when I checked it still popped up with the Stainless Steel option in kingdoms launcher.
And is it safe to use a backup of the games, or should i consider downloading Med2 and Kingdoms again, to make sure that the file/s that are causing the "bug" isn't being saved?
    /Johan

    JohanEA,

When I want to delete SS, I go to 'Performance & Maintenance' and in 'Add/Remove' programs I remove both Part 1 and Part 2 of SS. I then go to C:SEGA/MTW2/MODS/ and delete the SS folder and voila, job done.
Have you been playing the Mod via Steam?

    Hey Joe.
I've done exactly what you told, but it still shows stainless steel as an option. So there must be a "hidden" file somewhere :S
Yes I've got the game installed with Steam(Which i regret, would have saved me a lot of trouble already if i didnt)

I had this with Steam, when trying to remove ETW, go into 'Games' on Steam Menu and delete the 'Stainless Steel' entry within the games menu.

I'm sorry for asking but how do I "Delete the stainless steel entry within the games menu" I get that I should open steam -> my games. Tried to open kingdom launcher and enter the menu - but it pops up with an error message and well then I can't change anything. If it's for any help then I tried and open the overview of my folder(like when you install a game and you can choose where to place it) and I saw that the stainless steel mod was still in the mods folder although I couldnt see it when opening it the "normal" way. I think that there's some hidden files that might be protected from overwriting("Skrivebeskyttet" in danish). I remember that I tried to install some mod, which required that I needed to change some settings so that I could see "hidden" files on my computer. If any of you remembers how to do that I think it might help me find those files that still bug my game
    (Phew long message :S )

    JohanEA,
The trouble is I am at work at present, so I don't have Steam in front of me, I believe you select SS on the menu and then its a right click, then select delete. I recently DL'd a Simbin Racing game, but my steering wheel would not work, so I then deleted the game.

Hehe Joe, sounds like a great job you have
Well what I'm doing is that I open kingdoms through My Games in Steam. The Kingdoms launcher window pops up, and then i understand that you want me to click on play, and right click on "Stainless Steel". Problem however is that when I right click on "stainless steel" it launches Medieval total war 2. It's ok if you can't help any further without the game in front of you - Hopefully there's some other people that can help aswell

I've tried everything now - I've followed the list perfectly, and still the "Stainless steel" tag is there.
This is like a curse -.- I've tried to defrag the hard disk - reinstall the game like a million times. And enabled so that I could see hidden files and deleted the folder again. I'm just clueless now, having spent most of the day to get this solved..

Still in need of help - If any of you could list the name of files that interferes with the original medieval total war/kingdoms files, then I'd be happy. The stainless steel is still listed as an option in the kingdoms launch window, which prevents me from playing anyother mods. It sucks that some disguised leftover files from SS prevents me from playing the game with other mods - and I hope that you can help me..

    Hi,
This is the result of some left-over registry.
    go to Start->Run-> type regedit
    Now open:
HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE -> Software -> Sega -> Medieval 2 total war -> Mods -> Unofficialand delete the key "0001Stainless_Steel". That will get rid of the bastard.

Just btw, that registry thing won't prevent you from playing the game with other mods.

Thanks a lot Gracul, been trying everything to get rid off it - and your solution worked. Well, I'm gonna install Third: Age - Conquer and Divide then! Kudos x 1000!
