    Default Campaign/Battle Strategy

I just saw a somewhat old thread being revived about weird tactics, yea, necroposting ...
Well i decided to make a new one that covers more areas.

Please share with us your strange [or not] tactics. Everyone has different tactics, for rebels for example, for border security, or for blitzing and or destroying enemy stacks.
Tell what is your armies purpose, what is it comprised of, why and how you use it and emphasize on how you use them on the field too.

    For example:
Against rebels I have a general and some other, usually light cavalry, that patrols my lands destroying emerging rebels. The tactic i use with this patrolling army is simple. I start by hunting the rebel armies general with my general whilst keeping the rest of the cavalry at safe distance. This is usually quite easy especially if the general is on foot, if they have archers i get those too, with my light cavalry, if they get exposed while i hunt the general. By killing the general i lower their moral and then rout them with a charge. Simple.

Another example would be so called "hunting" armies. An army meant to hunt down other armies witch are smaller, this too is usually comprised from cavalry and mainly light as to run them down all. In this category i could also put the general hunting army comprised of my general and another heavy cavalry unit and light cavalry as to run down the routing general.

One last example is the chokehold army, an army meant to hold certain spots like mountain passes bridges or even a castle/town. Usually comprised of a few strong melee units, heavily armored used to pin down enemy units so that they can be ripped to shreds by mangonels, archers/xbows, or other units that can deal tons of damage.

Thanks for reading and please post a response and if possible post pictures too !

Um....if i remember correctly...there a sticky thread for all of this "share your tricks, strategies and ideas" here (http://www.twcenter.net/forums/showthread.php?t=76368)
so no need for necropost or even starting a new one

Also look at this thread. Eventhough it is for another mods, the tactics there is quite graphic

When a crusade is declare, I put more than one general into an army, join the crusade and leave the extra generals behind. That way they gain chivalry, are free upkeep, can move greater distance in all direction and I beat the deadline to join since they do not desert. You can even leave them into town without the existing units in that town joining, and since you get the crusade flag over that city, other catholic attacking you will be instantly excommunicated.

But the real advantage is after a long crusade: you can merge fresh troop with them outside town when you are ready, of course you got to move them toward the target, but it's still upkeep free and you get those cheap crusader mercenary. The best result is when your army is sieging the crusade target, you can get up to 8 turns to plan the crusade aftermath. and get really strong stacks all over the place and once you end the crusade, it's party time. Of course you may also bankrupt yourself doing it if you are too slow to siege and sack....
