Default Unit Recruitment & Possible Minor Bug?

    Hello,

As you may or may not know I am new to this Mod, so I may have many questions which seem noobish and I apologize for this.

So, I've recently have run into a unique issue when playing my campaign game as the Casse, and I was wondering...if someone would be so kind as shedding light on my situation.

As the Casse I have conquered the region of Heruskolandam. Upon taking control of the region I noticed that the Sweboz had owned (what I believe to be level 5 MIC. I am pretty sure but will have exact names posted if needed later) The first issue I have is with the actual descriptions of the MICs' in the first place. Apparently There is so much text that I cannot get to the bottom of the scroll to read which civilizations are able to utilize the structures. I am unable to scroll down to the bottom of the scroll. What is this? Is there too much text for the size of the scroll? Perhaps the name of the MIC takes up too many lines?(Again I'm not sure what level MIC it is...I think it's 5 but it sure does have a hell of a long name). What can I do or should I do to be able to read the entire description? Is it something that has to be corrected on my end...or is this a small bug?

The 2nd part of the question is as follows. Now as I said before I'm not sure if Casse can use MICs from the Sweboz...I'm guessing they can. But, even of this I'm not entirely sure. As I've said before I conquered the region of Hersukolandam, which has advanced Sweboz MICs. However I can only recruit Germanic Levy Spearmen. What gives? If both complexes are level 5, (still not sure but am about 94% positive. Again I will have the names of the MICs later if needed.) then according to the Recuritment Viewer I should be able to recruit Not only Germanic Levy spearmen, but also Germanic Spearmen, Belgae Swordmen, Celtic Slingers, and Germanic Mercenary Generals. Granted I realize after the fact that this region is not strategically significant...however my conquering this region was more of "revenge" then anything else. So what gives? Am I going to be able to create these other regional and factional troops in this region? Or do I need to quash the old SWEBOZ MICs and Construct my OWN CASSE ones? If that's the case...that would very much suck considering how expensive some structures are in this game...but that's another topic another time.

Anyways those are my questions for now and it would be much appreciated if anyone could get back to me with some solid answers.

    Thank you, Friends.

You should be able to scroll down any menu....
EB descriptions are long, but I can read them all, so I assume there must be something on your side. Can you move the 'scroll-point' on the right side all its way down?

Check the recruitment viewer (normally found in your Program Files. Select a faction and unit type and you see where you can recruit it. Select a region and open in the menu "Province details", this gives you a overview of the current recruitment options

Anyhow, the way the system with MIC's and gov-types is meant to be used is the following:

    1. conquer a region
    2. destroy government
    3. destroy MIC's you can't use
    4. build own government
    5. build own MIC

Every unit in EB has an AoR and many units are faction specific (why should a Germanic loayal warrior now fight for your faction??), so it depends on faction and chosen gov-type which units you are able to recruit.

Thank you Xsamatan for the speedy reply. For the first part:

Yes the descriptions are long...and I like it that way. However just like you said...I cannot move the scroll point on the right side all the way down. In fact...There is the scroll point...and there is an arrow atop the vertical line on the right where the scroll point rests...and there is supposed to be an downpointing arrow on the bottom of the vertical line. However I can not see the downturned arrow. I do not see all of the vertical line where the scroll point rests...there for I can only move the scroll point down so far the vertical line...and the limit at which I move the point...is not enough for me to view the entire description which also includes the portion that tells you which factions are able to use the structure.

2nd part: I have used the recruitment viewer in order to be sure of the units that can be trained in that particular province by my faction. I came up with: Germanic Levy Spearmen, Germanic Spearmen, Belgae Swordmen, Celtic Skirmishers, and Germanic Mercenry General. According to my in game...I have level 5 MICs which would allow me to train any of these units...yet, all that appears for recruitment is Germanic Levy Spearmen. Now if it were a case of me not being able to produce any units...then the solution is simple as you have stated in the system you provided: Conquer/Destroy gov & MIC/Build Gov & MICs. But this is not the case...why then...as Casse, in former Sweboz region with Sweboz lvl 5 MICs Can I only make the Germanic Levy Spearmen and nothing else...I can't even train Celtic Slingers....one of the most basic units the Casse can train. Am I missing something?

Furthermore, on a side note: I am new to EB and this site...and forums just in general....how do I properly quote portions of someone else's post and use it in one of my own, as you have done with mine? This would save a great deal of time for replys on my part.

    Thank You,
    Friends

Just click on quote instead of reply on the menu, and you will get the quote.
Could you post a screenshot of your problem? It could be that if you can't use any units from that MIC that you have already scrolled all the way down? Could this be it?

    1) The problem with not being able to scroll to bottom is not a bug. I have that too. It just prevents you from seeing who that MIC actually belongs to.

    2) As Casse, you can use the regional MIC of the Swęboz (and upgrade it, depending on your government level), but not the factional one. The latter (always with a complex Germanic name) can only be used by Swęboz and Getai.

Playing the Casse, you can use any regional MIC that has the "Barbarian" look to it, due to the fact that all Barbarian factions share this building (comes in handy when you blitz Fr... er Gaul).

    Hope that helps.

Not to open another thread...I got some recruitment problems too, in my Romani campaign....
The Recruitment Viewer tells me that in Bononia I could train some units in the first regional MICs, I am at the tier 3 regional MIC there but still no units.
And I can build no factional MIC (Romani MICs) in conquered settlements. Is it intended?
All the newly conquered settlement have type IV government, I disband the enemy government and their regional MIC.

If someone tells me how to take screens I will post them. Thanks.

P.S. Playing 1.2 with scripts activated

The recruitment viewer is not up-to-date. Its informations come from 1.1, so there were minor changes (romans especially, IIRC most low level troops (Lugaoe, etc) are now with lvl 3). The romans can only build factional MICs after their reforms, please see the FAQ.

    From the FAQ:

Q: As the Romans, why can't I build factional MICs in X area.
A: The Romans can only build factional MICs in areas that contain Roman units. The area expands based on the reform level (see below). During the Camilian Era, you can build factional MICs in your starting cities plus Segesta. During the Polybian Era, you can build factional MICs in "Homeland" regions (Italy). During the Marian & Avgvstan Eras, you can build factional MICs everywhere, but have limited recruitment, based on the area.

Press PRINT ingame. You may have to turn Anti-Aliasing off. Or you can use programs like FRAPS, googel for it.
