Default My graphiccard died with style

So I was in the middle of my awesome irish campaign, two turns before the 2nd dark age, at the end of the AI turn when I heard the crying death sound of a spy, and in the same moment my system crashed .

Next boot gave me artifacts and crashes so I was all "crapapples..."
    That was fun.

Now a couple of hours later I am typing this with more ram and a new card. It's so much fun when you go buy hardware and know that you can't afford it due to unemployment...

PS: It's not DLV's fault, my card was just old and dusty I guess.

Oh man, sorry to hear that

... although I do kind of wish it would happen to me, I need an excuse like that to spend money I haven't got too

I know this is not related to DLV but I ges that my graphic card is near to that point. System crash and before that picture tremble. Then only rebooting helps but if I dont install any program except WIN it works fine and I use this comp for internet only. But if I try only installing Office after some time it goes wild again. Could it be graphic card? I use my laptop for DLV but it is not the same... any idea graphic or RAM

It could be, my pre card-death symptoms were:

    - 1 blue screen (1 month ago)
    - a few, rare unexpected reboots (during the last 6 weeks)
    - 1 superfetch error (might not be related but the first I encountered) (1 week ago, resolved by emptying the cache and disabling the feature)
    - red artefact stripes over my screen that went away after I rebooted (1st with the superfetch error, then, always after the card death)

    and finally

    - death scream

It always sux to see your PC get a heartattack.
But then on the other hand, it's fun to get upgrades even due to that =)

It's common to have sudden reboots and BSODs due to faulty graphics card. More often than not, the old card can't handle the load anymore, its core heats up over the limit and hence the glitches.

If you get lotsa lag, trembles and low fps, that's more likely RAM problem.

Furin quick question, where do you reside? USA or outside USA?

I use a Thinkpad laptop.... Not the best choice for a high end graphic game,
Thorolf was thus armed. Then Thorolf became so furious that he cast his shield on his back, and, grasping his halberd with both hands, bounded forward dealing cut and thrust on either side. Men sprang away from him both ways, but he slew many. Thus he cleared the way forward to earl Hring's standard, and then nothing could stop him. He slew the man who bore the earl's standard, and cut down the standard-pole. After that he lunged with his halberd at the earl's breast, driving it right through mail and body, so that it came out at the shoulders; and he lifted him up on the halberd over his head, and planted the butt-end in the ground. There on the weapon the earl breathed out his life in sight of all, both friends and foes. [...] 53, Egil's Saga
I must tell you here of some amusing tricks the Comte d'Eu played on us. I had made a sort of house for myself in which my knights and I used to eat, sitting so as to get the light from the door, which, as it happened, faced the Comte d'Eu's quarters. The count, who was a very ingenious fellow, had rigged up a miniature ballistic machine with which he could throw stones into my tent. He would watch us as we were having our meal, adjust his machine to suit the length of our table, and then let fly at us, breaking our pots and glasses.

I am from and live in Austria and it was a Gforce8800GTX. Why do you ask, was there a solar flare over the US a while ago
