Default Looking at models/nudes on the internet/magazines/anywhere

So, on another forum I occasionally visit there is basically a babes thread. I live at home still and naturally wouldn't want my parents to see me looking at things like that, almost out of shame. I'm not a baby any more and I am long past puberty so I am not discovering myself or anything lol, but it just got me thinking: is there something wrong, either morally or otherwise, about actively seeking out pictures of models?

To be perfectly clear, I am not speaking about porn because that is something else entirely. What I mean is looking at the female form and appreciating it for its imperfection and humanity, or even just admiring someone's great body because it is nice to look at and obviously enjoyable. I can see how that can be somewhat objectifying women into nothing but looks, but the models consent to being objectified like that, it's their career. It's just important to remember that there is more to a woman than her ass...or you will have some serious trouble in future relationships

Is there something wrong with just wanting to look at pictures of beautiful women, whether they be naked or even with simply their face - arguably the most beautiful part of anyone. It's nice to just see humanity, pretty people, and sometimes a nice body. But I almost feel like it is wrong to do that and it is generally frowned upon in public places like work and school. You can't just pull up google in multimedia class and google: "hot models." But why not? Are we that shameful about our bodies, or that insecure about sexuality? Is it really that innappropriate to draw upon possibly carnal desires but not act upon them? I don't understand why some people are so embarrassed about nudity or why some are so modest. We all have "private parts" and who really cares if sometimes they are accidentally shown? And even then, what's wrong with sometimes admiring those of others (but not porn as again that is something completely different).

I hope I am being clear enough. Besides, I believe there was a thread about how it is healthy for men to stare at breasts and what not because it stimulates our heart and circulation What's wrong with trying to be a healthier person?

    Thoughts?

    It's perfectly fine.

Sexuality is a personal thing, which is different to a secret thing. But yeah, everything in moderation.

I'm with the above. It's perfectly fine; sexuality is a natural, human thing, and also very personal.

As an aside, though, my religion takes a very positive attitude towards sex. It is an inherent part of nature and humanity, and is the very basis of fertility. My religion is, at its heart, a fertility cult. One of Wicca's oldest liturgies, the Charge of the Goddess, includes the statement that "all acts of love and pleasure are My rituals." Which means that all acts of love, including and especially sex (implicitly between consenting adults only), are sacred to the gods and goddesses, particularly those of fertility and nature.

Well sexuality is fine and all that, but when you're at school or work I'd rather not think about googling 'babes' , there is a time and place for everything and work is usually not the time.

It was as full, as heavy, and as long as this seven christmas eve's ago, you have labored on it since, it's a ponderous chain!

    All natural, no worries.

Just be careful not to get caught at school or work to save an embarrassing moment.

i see nothing wrong with admiring the female form, its part of the positive feedback system that leads organisms to reproduce

science aside, i dont think school would be the correct place for such a thing, and its probaly not best at work eather. i think this might be some of the morals of the older generations still around, and who knows, two, three generations from now it might be all right.

This is exactly what I'm wondering: what makes it not alright? Why does sexuality have to be so hush hush and personal? I mean obviously I wouldn't just because it would horribly inhibit my productivity I have no interest in like googling nudes at school, I'm simply wondering why that sort of behavior is frowned upon in public places even if it were to not greatly diminish productivity, focus, etc. Sexuality is personal and I would do that sort of thing at home but I have a feeling I would get strange looks and stuff if I popped upon google on my laptop on like the train, starbucks, or other public places and was just oggling women.

Yep, lets dress naked, and lick other's private areas, it would be much more fun.

As long as it is according to your will and desire, there's obviously nothing wrong with it, and you shouldn't let anyone tell you otherwise.

Sexuality is personal because I really don't want to know which of my friends has a foot fetish or likes the fatties.

While I think we are too 'repressed' in many ways publicly, there are some things I just don't want to know about anyone.

Social conditioning makes it bad, there is nothing inherently bad about it. It also highly depends on the environment you live and grew up in. Conservative families tend to still have some remnants of the victorian norms: sex is bad bad bad and should only be done if it really had to be done. Society is progressing though, in a few years we might see posters of naked models in primary school.

On another note though, I don't have any problems with porn either. The link between sexuality and nude models is quickly made, so I don't see why porn is so different.
For every action there is an equal and opposite government program.

The definition of porn is graphic material that arouses to sexual thought, with no artistic intent.
