India?

I've not seen any threads on this, but is there any word of them adding India? The Anglo-Maratha Wars were raging around this time, and I think adding India would definately be a good expansion of the game world.

I'd rather see an Pensinsular War expansion before Anglo-Marathan Wars.

Seeing how Napoleon were never even close to India, and the fact that the game is based around Napoleon.

There were some massive battles in India. This, combined with the new graphics and hopefully better AI, would be an excellent addition.

India was the AI's strong point in E:TW. Every time you sent troops over there, you'd be immediately confronted by some massive Marathan army with units all having 3 chevrons.

It doesn't matter how grand the battles were in India at that time, Napoleon wasn't there and therefore it doesn't belong in a game based around his campaigns.

Well i personally think that put another important land such as America or India would be nice, but we have to be realists and see that this is a Napoleonic war game...

I like colonial ventures / theatres of war, so I voted yes.

I suppose they could also do an alternate-history scenario: what if Napoleon had succeeded in cutting off British communications to India during his Egypt expedition? What if the French took the struggle to the subcontinent in retaliation for the losses suffered during the Seven Years' War? For a time it looked as if India's destiny might be French - could Napoleon have resurrected that dream?

I hated India in ETW, I would have liked it if all of Africa, and Asia had been added!

just focus on napoleonic wars so: peninsula war 1808-1814, campaign of germany 1813, campaign of France 1814, that's all can be added... And no, new guinea won't be added either

It was nice to have there but to be honest I never had much interest in India in ETW.

They probably won't add it, and I can see their reasons not to.

However, not having Mahratta troops will make me miss the battle of Assaye something fierce...

Of course, if they did add such a scenario, I would start wondering if the Peninsular War or the War of 1812 would be more worth it. Ideally I would like to have them all, but I suppose we're forced to choose. All in all, I suppose I prefer a smaller but more detailed world. If expansions / DLC is the way they're going to address this, I would have no issues buying an India pack providing the BAI is decent.

Also, the benefits of conqueroing India were quite minimal, and could be much more cheaply replicated by just planting a few trade ships in the trade theatres.

I would like to see an india expansion (Wellington cut his teeth in India) but seeing as it is a game based on the life of Napoelon I find it unlikley.
