    Default Quarellers

    Hello, I have just started playing COW and I'm playing the dwarves. So far I'm doing quite allright, but when I defend my cities, I noticed that my quarellers hardly shoot, even though the unit icon says they are reloading or firing. This generally happens when they are on top of a wall.

    Bassically I'd see like 4-5 quarellers of a unit consisting of 62 quarellers firing, even though they have a clear sight of the target, am I doing something wrong? It also happens when I'm not on a wall. I haven't tried it in a field battle yet.

    Oh btw, the mod is really good. I'm looking forward to future updates.

    It's because the projectiles were altered in this mod. I noticed that too and changed it right away. Here, replace you file with this one.

    Thank you! that's quick , I wonder why they changed it, it doesn't make sense.. btw, while battleing in the field they do fire. Just weird that they didn't in defending sieges.

    It's because when on the walls they must fire their bolts up in the sky and this change prevented them from doing this. The question is is this change still in 1.3?

    It is realistic, a crossbow bolt having a nearly flat trajectory.

    Well, historically crossbows werre used in sieges aswell, by both defender and attacker so it should be possible, not to mention that when the enemy is close to the walls, even bows will have a straight line of fire. In other words the defender will have to bent over the edge of the wall regardless of missile weapon.

    Realistic maybe, but we are talking about a fantasy universum The Dwarfs may be using some kind of rune carved bolts or sth

    Hmm strange in 1.03 i did use the quarellers to defend karaz-a-karak and they decimated goblinz it seemed to me or maybe these were the towers ?

    In 1.03 the boiling oil works as in M2 vanilla (I've checked the file and there is no 0 for damage value) as well. Step by step this mod evolves into sth outstanding.

    Hm, I think I still have the old projectile text on my version of COW, is that still good? or is the v1.03 better? if so can any of you give me the 1.03 one? Cause I think I overwrote it..

    Ok, I got that one fixed I think, I got a projectile file from v1.03. Now I changed the dwarven bolt I just want to know if it is the right thing that I changed. See below for the change

    hrm, i dun get it.. my quarellers still won't fire.. ever, not even in the field... Maybe it's because i started the game before I put the v1.03 desc_projectiles.txt in? Alse I 'wouldn't know why, I'll try a custom battle instead of the campaign tomorow.

    Ok, so in costom battle, the quarrelers do fire, I'll try a new campaign to see if it works there..

    Ok, the quarelers are ok now, they still won't fir from walls though, and neither are my rangers and thunderers.. Did you perhaps change it again? And can I have your projectile file again, if you changed it?

    I have the same problem... I'm playing Dwarfs, and during assaults my quarellers, thunderers and rangers don't want to fire, or at least 1/5 of them...

    Here's the file for 1.031

    Thunderers won't fire thou as all blackpowder units on walls don't do well when firing (it's common for M2)

    They will fire fine on wooden walls. I wonder if a change could be made somehow to the walls to make them easier to shoot from like you can with wooden walls.
