Caesar Total War

After reading some of the previews of NTW I'm beginning to think that the next game in the series will be Caesar Total War in which you will follow Caesar's rise to power starting with his conquest of Gaul and then moving into the Civil War. I think that is the new direction of Total War focusing on famous generals/conquerers.

I believe a better one would be, starting with Caesars armies wanting to take gaul, (the GC is a world map!) and it goes right through until the split of the empire, so all of Romes Imperial years!

Would be cool.

Covering the whole empire would be cool, but it seems the new direction is more story driven vs sandbox. Still it could be interesting following the great conquerers like Genghis Khan,Alexander, Tokugawa Ieayasu etc.

Yes! ... or something during the three kingdoms period in China. We haven't touched the Asian mainland (China, Korea, etc etc) yet with any titles, so I'd be interested if they did something along those lines. And they'd have a sizeable market in China.

No, Longshanks was Edward 1,Hammer of the Scots. He whipped the Scots' tartan backsides, not that they wore tartan back then whatever Hollywood would have you believe. He would make a great film but Hollywood hates the English.

yeah everyone knows scots went naked until the day they found a tartan blanket lying in the highlands and someone said that looks warm enough maybe I should put it on.

Well besides Caesar, Alexander, Genghis Khan and Napoleon are there any other great conquerers who would make good total war games??

Frederick the Great would make a good TW. Gustavus Adolphus as well.

Charlemagne or maybe William the conqueror could make some awesome games.

I don't think this is how we'll see the series progress. Caesar does present a very interesting narrative, but we don't have a period/style of warfare known through the ages as "Caesaric"

The period that Napoleon covers was, by and large, defined by Napoleon himself. Rome presents no singular narrative that warrants its own stand-alone game, I don't think.

Now, perhaps with this new trend of mini-campaigns (that began with Kingdoms) we might see the "Grand Campaign" accompanied by a series of linked mini-campaigns like "The Campaigns of Caesar". I wouldn't rule that out.

I see what you are saying but actually Caesar's career took him over the entire Empire, in fact he was organizing an invasion of Parthia when he was assasinated, so theoretically you could do a grand campaign with him. In other words just like NTW is all about doing better than Napoleon Caesar total War would be all about doing better than Caesar. Two week turns or monthly turns would give a plenty long campaign game. I just see CA/Sega going this route, using famous historical figures to attract new gamers.

Gustavus Adolphus, Caesar, or Frederick the Great. As a swede, I'd personally love one about Gustavus. However a R2TW would be accepted with open arms from my side!

I'd much rather see a 264 - 146 BC game, focusing on Rome, Macedonia and Carthage.

The Scythian invasion of the Middle East around 1500 B.C. would make an excellent subject for a game!
