Most likely, since the sound is ripped from LOTR, it is saying "For Theodin!" or something similar.

<<Un collègue; un ami.>>
things likes these gives me goosebumps while playing RS. hope RS2 has better effects xD
Talking about that (LOTR I mean) is the horn that the Generals use when rallying the troops not the horn of Gondor? Sounds exactly the same to me.

Snipers get more Head!
They use the Isengard and Rohan Horns.
I really hope they get rid of the Forth Eorlingas scream though. It was the only thing that bugged me with the mod.
The horn sounds like boromirs horn of gondor :bhttp://www.youtube.com/watch?v=2E3Vq...eature=related bout 23 secs in.
Deep into that darkness peering, long I stood there, wondering, fearing, doubting, dreaming.
The "forth eorlingas" is freaking awesome!
It brings far more spirit in the fight.
Too bad that cavalry is quite bad in this game. Even sword hoplites can kill my Praetorian cavalry with 2 gold chevrons and a golden shield and sword.
"A Moment of Laxity Spawns a Lifetime of Heresy"
That's because cavalry in that time was used for chasing of ranged units and charging in the back. They weren't meant to last long in an infantry against cavalry fight. That aspect changed in the period of the late empire and the medieval age
Vlaanderen de leeuw
what do you mean cavalry in RS are bad? they are a lot more useful and deadlier than the ones in M2TW
they dont split up and mess up their formation, when charged at a right distance they can punch a huge whole in the enemy ranks.
I practically use them as hammers beating the enemy until they rout
i wuv the horsies as much as i luv my hoplites![]()
Yes, this is a game, but the fun is that it's supposed to simulate reality, right? Even the best armoured and trained unit could fall from an arrow or sword (I won't include spear, since we're talking about cavalry). There were no 'immortal' warriors. So it's actually pretty nice that even sword hoplites can kill praetorian cavalry. It's realistic.
Personally, I feel cavalry in RS is well-balanced. In some of my battles as Romans, for instance, the Gauls have 2-3 or more units of cavalry in their stacks. Some of them are heavy cavalry. Sometimes they group them and hit one or two of my cohorts head-on, directly in their shields and swords and do massive damage. Once the charge is over, though, they usually don't retreat (stupid AI), so I slaughter them in the melee.
Still, this proves that cavalry is well-balanced in RS - even my elite Legions cannot withstand a mighty charge, (even light cavalry is effective when charging) but in a close melee, even elite cavalry falls to ordinary infantry. Realistic.![]()
When you have momentum on a horse you can do massive damage to any unit of infantry. But once you stand still your horse becomes a cumersome, large and especially vulnerable animal. In real ancient and medieval combat (ie.not like in M2:TW) this worked the same way. Like at the battle of golden spurs (Dutch: "Guldensporenslag") where heavily armored French knights could not pick up enough speed because of the terrain and their own infantry, who were making "a tactical retreat" at the time. They were hacked to pieces by Flemish militia as a result and the battle was lost.

so what is the best way to use the cavalry charge? Do you need them to pull back a little once the initial charge is over and let them come around for the second time charge? Since they are pretty vulnerable if they stood still.
