    Default Sudden Graphics Problems

I´ve been playing the DMUC Mod for a couple of months with no problems.... until today.

I turned the game on and the place names of all of the towns and cities began multiplying until they almost completely covered the whole campaign map.

So I stopped the game and restarted it. This time the place names and the graphics of the locations had disappeared. Only the flags of the armies situated in a city remained. I then tried a land battle to see if the graphics here were also affected. I was attacking a city and the armies were visible but the buildings were not. Also, the position markers when you move a unit have vanished.

I´ve reset the DMUC script files and verified the game cache with no luck.

Any ideas would be appreciated. I´m at 1774 in the Grand Campaign and, whilst the game is still playable, without the graphics it´s .......well, crap.

Thanks in advance for any help.

Thanks Syntax, but unfortunately you´re talking to someone who would have thought that a Nvidia was some sort of social disease.
I´ll have a look at the graphic driver and play around a bit.

By the way, I´d like to say that I like the way you offer advice and explain things in laymans terms on this site. The sign of someone who really knows what they´re talking about. Your advice has been particular helpful to a technophoebe like me on several occasions. Thanks again.

Thank you soo much Britbroad, for your kind words. (keeps me going on - as once I had a small issue with some - who ask, I explained and he after felt I'm to much teaching him and got real very angry at me - but the nice community had immediately solved the issue for me...snow from yesterday anyway!) - but such posts as yours are still some kind of motivation, and also if I see if by advise and tip the users really get this wonderful mod to work, this had to be played!!!

our quote made me lough : "have thought that a Nvidia was some sort of social disease" and not everybody have to be good at computers other peoples have other interests and special knowledge were I would be on the other side of the line..., by the way some never know everything about - it is so fast developing...new, and new - you buy a graphic-card you come home and it is already outdated..hahah

On the graphic driver - there should be a folder on your computer where Nvidia store the drivers you use - just install an old version - no need to delete the new driver! I hope Nvidia solve this problem soon....(in my case the folder is under computer/c:/ Nvidia/ display driver) - if you can't get an older version from Nvidia - I would try to upload it for you somewhere - but these are huge quite well over 100 MB - first have to find a website which allows so much for free...anyway tell us how it worked out for you... (I would have only the 64 bit Windows Vista versions...)

Hear you and have a nice campaign....

I don't know if this works well with nvidia drivers, but I'm using ATi and if I install an old driver over a new one, my graphics card doesn't work well ... I need to deinstall the new driver, then I use a software called "driver cleaner" to delete the leavings of the driver and then I install the old driver. But maybe this isn't necessary for nvidia ...

By the way: you can download any kind of old drivers here

No0dle - you are initially right - but on the Nvidia is a routine which will delete the old version - your computer restart and then the new version is installed without your input - that's a new implementation....since a year or so...

Cool you know a web. were to download old drivers - as I'm also in the use for some other rig....my neighbor..

    Hear you No0dle...

    Syntax & No0ddle,

Many thanks for your help. I Uninstalled the updated driver then reinstalled the old one as suggested, and everything´s back to normal again....much to the disgust of my wife!

    Thanks again.

If you want your wife stop grizzling, you'll have to find a game she likes and give it to her so she is busy, too
