    Default Balkans, Iazyges and CTDs

I am playing Valens and I got rid of Procopius quite quickly, anyway the barbarians on the danube are a real spine in the neck; Serdica and Singidum are constantly under siege, but the worst thing is that about 50% of the battles canět even begin, as the game crashes. This does not happen so often when fighting against the Goths: I wonder whether there's some problem with Iazyges and the Balkans. Specifically the cities of Serdica, Singidum and Dyrrachium and all the lands around them seem to be extremely sensible to CTDs. Any suggestions?

PS I have patch 3, but I did not install patch 4 yet because I fear the savegames might not work properly

Yes, this is another one that seems to affect some people and not others. I thought it might relate to CAS files for the Iazges, but I have had them redone for Patch 4, so this may solve part of the problem. It may also be a problem with the map but I am unsure how to fix this, if it is a problem.

You may be relieved to hear that Patch 5 will see the Iazges relegated to the history bin for the 361AD and 365AD campaigns as they had virtually been destoyed as a faction by this time under Constantius II.

May I suggest that you try Patch 4 (keeping a safe copy of your existing campaign) and see if this helps or not.

    Cheers

Fighting against the lazyges is notorius for crashes, I've played this mod for along time and alot of CTD's with the lazyges. My advice to you is insure your computer has enough RAM, 2GB or more, and constantly save your games. I always save before and after battles. I would also wait a couple of minutes after a battle ended with the casualty screen before continuing. Crossing your fingers for good luck couldn't hurt. If you keep having the same CTD over and over again after a manual battle, I would recommend an automatic battle just to be over with itregardless on who wins. Sacrafices have to be made.

Actually, the thread of Battle CTDs recommends that you do NOT save a game prior to loading in order to reduce the chances of a CTD.
