    Default Lifespan

    Hey, I have been playing this mod a little bit and getting into it, and I know the FAQ says lifespans are all the same, and that's true. However that's a little bit disappointing since by the time of the War of the Ring, everybody is already dead or in their seventies at least. Is there any way to make the lifespans longer than the normal spans of medieval2? Because the men in this timeframe (the rulers who were descended from numenoreans, anyways) were living alot longer than seventy-eighty years and obviously the elves don't die, but I seriously doubt Elrond would sail west as the war of the ring is starting. So, since this is probably a personal preference thing, is there any way I can mod the lifespans myself (or maybe even make the FM's Immortal besides death in battle, since that is effectively true for most of the rulers of men and obviously the dwarves and elves and nazgul?) or am i just going to have to roleplay the war of the ring without any of the characters?

    I'm fairly sure the age limit is about 90, but it can be increased by editing the campaign files me thinks...

    There is a Lifespan submod by TNZ which makes elves, dwarves, istari, nazgul and orcs unable to die with old age.

    Go to your descr_campaign_db\file

    Raise the (<max_age uint="320"/>)value.Raise the ( <max_age_before_death uint="335"/>).
    Raise the (<old_age uint="290"/>).

    As you can see i have changed mine.You can change yours as you like.Problem is this may get to a point where it says they are age 1 again.But they will not die by natural causes.There must be another file that controls age and race.But this will let all the races live till the time you desire.I have over 349 turns and no one has died from natural causes.Example(Steward Denethor is 24) on turn 349.His age has cycled from some other file that controls age but does not control death.This is a simple way to stop death by natural causes or you can wait until someone creates a correct method.This also does not affect saved game compatibility.

    <family_tree>
    <max_age uint="220"/>
    <max_age_for_marriage_for_male uint="75"/>
    <max_age_for_marriage_for_female uint="50"/>
    <max_age_before_death uint="235"/>
    <max_age_of_child uint="10"/>
    <old_age uint="190"/>
    <age_of_manhood uint="16"/>
    <daughters_age_of_consent uint="16"/>
    <daughters_retirement_age uint="40"/>
    <age_difference_min int="-10"/>
    <age_difference_max int="30"/>
    <parent_to_child_min_age_diff uint="12"/>
    <min_adoption_age uint="20"/>
    <max_adoption_age uint="30"/>
    <max_age_for_conception uint="50"/>
    <age_of_manhood_close uint="14"/>
    <max_number_of_children uint="4"/>

    I dont get it, its been asked so many times as ive read and the answer has always been that NO you cant make Elves for example immortal, so as i understand infact you can? I wonder why isnt this a default feature in TATW.

    Because it is buggy and slows down the game.

    my ecthellion died in a battle, he was 120.. I am using RR/RC does that have anything to do with it?

    In RR/RC generals don't die from old age. The starting generation of men gets killed by a script.

    The situation is very easy to understand ; MED2 is a game for the historical human world, in which all the men died at the same time, between 60 and 100.

    So there is only one general code for lifespan ; so if we change it (died at 100, 200, 500, etc.), we can make immortal all the characters of the game ; ALL. So spies, murderers, priests, generals and family members will all died at 100, 200, 500, etc.

    In RR/RC, all the character are immortal. So the only way to make mortal humans is scripting ; the men living at the beginning of the campaign will be killed by script. But their sons won't. So it's just a limited solution, that isn't perfect and need a lot of scripts, that can slows the game.

    The main pb is scripts cannot kill unspecified characters (like gondor, roha, dale characters) because it needs the NAME of the character to kill him. And the only names we can used are those of the character at the beginning.

    Immortality can only be achieved by scripting, namely by using multiple turns per year, perhaps best no winter months (because aging is related to changing winter to summer season) as is done in LotRTW. It's a choice a mod team must make because the script will "stop" time, thus characters won't age either. I have tested descr_campaign_db as well and it does not alter the TW-engine's age limit (128 if I recall) so it will only reset characters to 0 years, which isn't really realistic IMO.
