Not sure if anyone has the answer, but it would be kind of cool to build a unit and then be able to recruit it.

So the unit editor is purely for custom/mp battles?

    Boring.

    No one knows really.

Probably MP/custom unless the editor is a separate program from NTW and has the ability to integrate with files in the main data archives for the game. (Which could possibly be modded to do so).

But yeah no one really knows.

My best guess is that one shall be able to edit a unit after it has been built, but the unit types available will remain the same.

It would be cool, I really hope this is an option for the unit editor. I also hope the unit editor makes ui cards for the unit you create as well as bio pictures.

i am guessing the unit editor is just going to allow to change the color of your units and possibly the uniform but i doubt the latter will happen. And i am pretty sure you are going to be able to only change current units in game, not create new ones. And especially not allow you to change their stats or otherwise CAs business of selling elite units would come to an end.

To me, its going to be the most pointless tool ever, but i could be wrong
"we're way way pre-alpha and what that means is there is loads of features not just in terms of the graphics but also in terms of the combat and animations that actually aren't in the game yet.So the final game is actually gonna look way way better than this!” - James Russell, CA
Just like the elephant animation, this Carthage scenario is actually in the game, it just has a small percantage factor for showing up, that's all...

Lusted or someone from CA noted that the editor would allow people to create their own historical units.

I'm thinking more of on the line of cosmetic, not stats, otherwise it wouldn't be properly balanced.

On the contrary, people will be able to re-texture their own historical units which I think is the purpose of this. Not to make new units itself.

From what I got from the preview we'd be able to re-texture them or something. So I guess if John Doe doesn't think that the Elite British Dragoons look correctly, he should be able to use the editor to make it look what he wants them to look.

I'm not sure, like I said we're going on spectulation here. The closest I can think of is Dawn of War's Unit editor.

For the record I could be wrong but it is called "Editor" not "creator"

Hmm, from the preview I had gotten the impression that would be allowed to create units using existing 'pieces.' I hadn't gotten the impression that all we were doing was switching the colors of currents units which is...pointless.

    Blue fusiliers or red fusiliers?

    Wow, what's the point?

You know, it's statistically proven that the Red Team wins more than the Blue team. So obviously the point is to switch your uniform to Red so that you have that statistical edge.

Though this only works against the French, Prussians and the Swedish.

The French did have red uniforms, the Swiss troops.

In NTW units have several accessories on them that are mix-matched in order to make the units more varied. What the unit editor will do is let you pick those parts and colors specifically in order to make a new unit. It's not exactly like having a brand new model but I'm sure you'll be able to make some cool stuff.

So this time I can have REALLY Naked Fanatics? Oh the joy that would bring!

On another note, the small little details should add small stats to the units.
For example, Backpack A is heavy because it is big and it holds a lot of supplies. Backpack B is small and lightweight, but unable to hold a lot of supplies. So if you put backpack A on your troops, they won't run/charge as fast, but in the campaign map, they would lose less soldiers to attrition than if your units wore Backpack B.

Well, not quite as cool as a unit creator, but that should be pretty interesting.

No one knows, but most hopefully it will include the "buildings_units_allowed" table, too.

As user friendly as all of that is, when it comes to graphics, some of us are better programmers/wrtiers than graphics editors...
