Default RR/RC with default character portraits?

I just downloaded RR/RC and the list of changes it adds sounds great, but I much prefer the default character portraits. Is there any way to just remove the change to the character portraits without uninstalling the submod?

You have to find the Stainless Steel folder inside your mod folder in the game's directory. You go to the "data" folder and open up "ui." You'll see folders called eastern_european, northern_european, southern_european, greek, middle_eastern. You have to delete the portrait folder inside each of these (I don't think all of them have it due to european pic overlaps). This will revert your general and agent portraits to the 3d models from the vanilla game.

Personally, I'm with you. I don't like the portraits at all (I think they are a flashback to the first Total War Medieval game) mainly because it seems to make me think that all the princesses are hideous old women while the original princess models actually looked like women who could back up saying such bold things such as "behold, true french beauty." Also, I like the visored, masked muslim generals.

yeah, the original princesses are hot...
BTW. did you do that already? I don't want to experiment... and is it compatible with the saved games?

Hmm, that's weird. Deleting those folders should just tell the game to fill it in with the original files. I did it the exact way I described and kept the folders so I would know what I had deleted just in case I had to do it again.

For me it was the directory C:\Program Files\Sega\Medieval II Total War(not sure about this one)\mods\Stainless Steel\data\ui\(whatever region)\portraits

gdo0d6's (what in the hell kinda name is THAT??) manual works fine for me. I changed the 'portraits' folders in eastern_european, middle_eastern, northern_european and southern_european to 'portraitsM'. fired up a game and bingo!

Sir walter, try copying the named ui folders from a SS 6.1 install into RR RC after you have removed the unwanted ones. I tried it and it worked for me so far (20ish rounds campaign and some starting of campaigns).

I haven't got 6.1 No space to redownload either. I've restored the RR/RC ones though.

Can you unpack the vanilla files that contain the portraits? Then you wouldn't have to download anything.

Now that I looked at it, it seems my game used the default portraits by itself as gdo0d6 mentioned.

I think you'd have to find out which pack they're in first though
