As most of you already know, Sega/CA has been holding NTW preview events. Last week they held one in San Francisco that Space Wolves attended and he wrote a pretty decent report. We all need to give more kudos to CA and Sega for trying to get more involved with the community.

I received an invitation to go to the NY event on Feb 2nd, at Sega's expense. I will be leaving Monday night and will return Weds night, and will get as much information as I can.

Sweet man. Have a look at the artillery see if its extremely overpowered and make sure you fight the BAI.......seems like CA might be trying to avoid showing the BAI. They did not show it to the people who went to the events on Friday. If the artillery is really overpowerd, mention it to CA and see what they think about it.

    Have fun!

Yep seconded, ask them if the Artillary is still very anxious to kill it's own, and listen to the battle units music please, see if we get scot pipers, flutes etc, or ask what's in the release.
Also, do they know if a day one patch will be likely?

    Have a fun day, cheers!

Glad to hear it, GED. I actually received an invite to the New York event too, but I had to decline because of an Organic Chemistry exam the exact same evening. I tried to get my professor to give me a make-up date, but no such luck . I would've skipped ordinary class without a second thought, but I can't afford to miss an examination.

Julian was super, super friendly about the whole situation too. He really seems like a great guy - he gave me a couple days to let him know if I would be free or not, and worked with me the whole way through. Say hello to him for me!

Can't wait to hear what you have to say about the event.

Julian is great, we have been emailing for a couple of weeks now and I talked with him on the phone on Friday while he was at the Alien vs Predator event. Sega genuinely wants to connect with their fan base, and we are obviously the biggest TW site.

Trajan wanted to attend the SF event but he couldnt make it. I really wish he could have as the more contact we have with Sega at the site management level then the better our overall relationship with Sega is.

That is the main reason I am going. Yes I definitely want to see NTW and will report on it in as much detail as I can, but what I really want is to get a solid relationship with some of these guys.

    Yeah, that's fantastic.

A good rapport between Hex/TWC and CA/SEGA would benefit both sides immensely (not that we aren't friendly already, but I'm speaking on more intimate terms) - both parties in the relationship would gain a hugely valuable avenue of communication and mutual feedback. You seem to know Julian pretty well, and from my brief communications with him I got the feeling that he genuinely cares about the community (Heck, the amount of personal attention he paid to me over the course or 2-3 days was well beyond what was called for. He seemed to genuinely care about me visiting, and helping me figure out the whole situation when my conflict arose).

Good luck! I'm eager to hear your feedback on the game, naturally, but more importantly I can't wait to hear how your talks with Julian and company go

I actually live in NYC and would have loved to go, but I didn't bother applying since I have no time in med school for that sort of thing

Looking forward to the review! Or would it be preview? Hmmm....

GrnEyedDvl, if you have the time and take requests, could you try the following:

    - Start a 1vs1 battle in custom battles against the AI. Then just use fast forward and, without moving your army or playing, see what happens. What is kind of irritating in ETW is that the AI can sometimes lose a battle even with the player not playing... I'd like to see what happens in NTW if you just let the AI do its thing, if it tries to flank you and so on. Of course, I hope the melee blob bug will be eradicated.

    - zoom on the units and tell us if there are new animations (well, if you already know ET ones, of course ^^).

    - try and see if the reinforcement system during battles has changed (reinforcements randomly entering on one side of the battlefield). If you can play the game and try it (putting one of your army near another one before attacking), please do it.

    - Use the new diplomacy options in campaigns (embargo, forcing to declare war against somebody else) and tell us if it gives interesting results, like seeing a country forced to go to war attacking the target.

I'm asking you this as I'd rather have your opinions on this by testing the game directly. Don't know if it'll be possible though.
