how do i make peace?

so im playing the teutonic order, and im trying to make peace with my neibors, but they really really hate me, im having a terrible logistics problem and i really want at least a few turns to be able to regather my forces, organize my territory, sort out the carnage, but every time i think i got one ai crushed beneath my boot another one declares war on me it never ends!

10 turns, its all i ask lol, 10 turns of peace!

if it means anything im playing an early era campaign (i modded them in to early for more of a land grab game at the beginning

im playing 6.2rc4

You need good reputation and a lot of florins. Everyone wants to be your friend if you pay him enough money.

Indeed reputation seems to be the key, it also seems to lower the chance of being attacked if I'm not mistaken.
If really desperate you could offer them territory, always works however painful that may be. Quickly grabbing one of their territories that you know you can not hold and then offering it back to them for a cease fire is always an option.
Also allying with their ally might work, but it's not to common in my experience that they will accept the proposal.

If your reputation is low, a ceasfire will always be demanding, no matter how hard you beat them to crap. However, if your reputation is mixed or higher, a ceasfire will be generous (or even very generous) if you take a few settlements from them and beat a few armies to crap. Next turn, offer them ceasfire with one of your diplomats and they'll accept. At least they should.

BTW: It doesn't matter that you modded the Teutons into Early Campaign, the AI won't know it. (They won't act different to you)

how are some ways i can improve my reputation? its "very untrustworthy" but i dont know why, i did not ever break any alliances or go bad on any deals, actually, the only deal i ever suceeded in was giving the byzantines caro for 1k gold for 10 turns after i took it for a crusade, i checked on a new game and the teutonic starts with a mixed reputation.

now that i think about it tho, the game started me at war with lithuania, and i kept trying to declare peace, but every time i did, next turn we were at war again, could that be the cause of the reputation loss? (i tryed it a few times)

Your main problem is that keeping alliances raises reputation, while being at war reduces it. Meaning in order to increase your reputation, so you can make peace, you need more friends.. It's sort of a vicious circle. Your best bets are probably to first find your enemies who's already at war with several enemies - as that makes them more likely to agree. Other than that, your only options are to buy their friendship, or to force it on them, by conquering most of their lands.

As of general ways to increase reputation, try this:
* Release prisoners after a battle
* Never sack/raise when you conquer a settlement.
* MONEY! Money are everyones best friend, and can buy you out of most troubles.

Like they said above reputation is the key.
If you are very untrustworthy their is little chance you can make peace.
Some of the other above strategies to make peace are good, but.
You are playing SS 6.2 RC4 so the AI is very aggresive. Even if you can make peace and/or alliance and have very good reputation and relations the AI can always betray you. Peace by a gift of money or region will not last long. I would not recommend it.
I don't know your difficulty level, but if you want peace with some neighbors their will be a long way to go.

You can download Archaons Loyal allies mod, but I don't know if it's compatible with 6.2. I think so, but I'm not sure.

Also one guarantee for avoiding backstabbing is to show a raw military power.
If you let strong garrisons in key points near your neighbours, they won't normally bother you, even if your reputation is crap!

It is another approach to the very high rep and money distribution to keep peace.
Be a bastard, raise your armies and show your strength, the AI is normally not suicidal.
This is the "other path.

I tried this with some games (normally i prefer diplomacy + high rep), and it worked very well. Your neighbours eventually fear you so much that you are in relative peace

What Cedric said is what I would suggest too. The AI will always want to take you on. Only way is to keep training your army up. Balance economy/military and fight fire with fire!

It's better to throw water on the fire. Just because you'll take less wounds. High reputations is easily gained and easily kept, cheaper, and relatively save. I mean: If you loose an army to one neighbour, the others will smell weakness and start a massive war against you.

Not sure, both approachs i tested myself and both work quite well

Plus the key is to keep strong garrisons here and there in strategic points. It cost money but when playing this "path", i generally put also high or very high taxes too so i don't have any issue with money. Try it!

But like i said i play normally the honourable + low tax way

Just that this alternative is plenty of fun and at least as good as the other one....

Lol, your just delaying the inevitable though. In the end you know your going to have to wipe them off the face of the planet. Better doing it now and having some fun.

Exactly!

Although i would still recomend to keep 1-2 borders safe and peacefull.
You can get a real safe alliance with a faction if you get some common ennemies and/or marry your king/heir to one of their princess (or the opposite). But anyway you still need to keep at least some garrisons nearby.
I had games like this, playing with deceitfull rep, and all my captains full of dread, my cities crawling under taxes, and some very trustfull allies never betrayed me from the 1st turn we allied until the end of the game. (One with me as Kwarezm, i allied with Egypt and we conquered the world together: they conquered most africa and a bit of middle-east and i conquered all east and greece and over).
