    Default NTW and Nvidia...

I have taken a short break from ETW because of the new BadCompany 2 Beta that has been out... and with it I decided to up date my Nvidia Drivers to the latest...

This afternoon... after playing BC2 for a bit, I had some additional freetime to play a few turns in my 117 turn Campaign. To my suprise... the building dissapeared, the cannons dissapeared, the weapons on my units dissapeared!!!

I tried to restart, turn off mods, and many other problem/solution ideas... but to no avail. each battle, and even the campaign map, units and buildings started to disapear!!!

I went to the tech help forum here on twcenter... and have found it littered with this problem!!!

I have tried several games with the updated driver, and there has been no problems whatsoever!!! but ETW I guess is another species!!!

    So... my thoughts/questions to you:

    1. Do not update your drivers if you havent already!
    2. Will ETW make a quick fix to remedy this problem... or do they hope we will just upgrade to NTW
    3. Will NTW have the same Nvidia Driver Issues?

I have never understood how to update drivers - does this happen automatically or do you have to get in there and do it yourself? If it is the latter - how do I do it? some guidance here would be appreciated

    my main guidance is...

if you can play ETW now and you enjoy it... dont update your drivers. you see, i had never had a problem with etw (yeah a few CTD's here and there). i have up dated my drivers every now and then - especially when i get a new game or when the text on the drivers state an increase in this game or that.

the new driver, the one that just came out has many improvements. i also wanted to get it to give the bad company 2 BETA the latest improvements; that it did... as well as give a few performance increases on some of my other games. however, it has totally destroied ETW!!! now leaving it unplayable - yes i can load it, and got to play it, but none of the units have weapons, no cannons, no rifles, ... not even swords for the horsemen. and no buildings or forts... the units just hover in mid air!!!

anyways... if you do want to update your drivers it is quite simple. go to NVIDIA.com... go to drivers... and the rest is simply pluging in your type of card and your operating system... download and your set!

i suggest that if you want to... look on the twcenter forums for the best drivers to install... and select it from the nvidia site by looking it up... rather than getting the "latest drivers".

would CA care to say something about this??? or possibly make a quick hotfix???

I had a tech guy tell me once to not change drivers unless there is some problem. Many times a newer driver is not your best option.

Yeah , if you go here , you will see that many people like you and as me had your same problem...
The only thing you can do is to switch back to the driver before... This I dont Know why for me as happened only in Empire , but in General i suggest you to update them ....

To check what drivers you have loaded >>
Right click on your desktop >> NVIDIA control panel >> system information (bottom left) and it will list the driver 'forceware' version.

Nvidia drivers you will find here:

    http://www.nvidia.com/Download/index5.aspx?lang=en-us

Here's a step by step guide on the best way of updating the drivers:

    Download driver cleaner here: http://www.drivercleaner.net/
This is a great program which will delete all traces of drivers as sometimes when you uninstall them they leave behind files which can cause issues when you come to install new drivers. We’ll use this in a minute
I highly recommend using this or any other driver cleaner software to keep your Windows registry tidy. Most problems people get, when installing new drivers, comes form the fact they never clean the old driver properly. If you follow these steps, you avoid many possible driver conflicts.

Download the latest drivers for your operating system 32/64bit.

Extract/ copy the files to a temporary directory such as c:\temp

Go to the control panel > program and features > scroll down the list and find NVIDIA > then select NVIDIA and click uninstall. It will ask if you want to restart the system.. click yes

Press F8 on startup and go into windows in safe mode.

Run driver cleaner and select NVIDIA drivers.. then clean.

Go to the control panel > system> device manager > graphics card. Right click on any present and click uninstall

Restart the system and go into Windows normally. Make sure to temporarily disable any Anti-Virus software prior to the new driver installation. Install the NVIDIA drivers listed above which you put into a temporary folder

Restart the system.. and fingers crossed all should be well!

I hope this little guide helps.

    Cheers,
