Will Napoleon be released with Steam in the same way as Empire?

I truly truly hope that it is not because if it is I will not buy it I'm afraid

If I answer that here it will just start another anti-steam rant which I'm sure nobody really wants, besides there has been many other posts about the pros and cons of Steam elsewhere

I you either love it or hate it, a bit like Marmite, for me the cons far out weigh the pros.

Figure I posted a thread but since you have this thread opened might as well use it.

CA dont know how to use it?

In games made by companies like Valve they listen to the customers before patching things that dont need to be patched, 1.3s AI or the dumb ass naval changes...

Yep, it's Steam. CA/SEGA seem to think Steam is the best option to push PDLC and prevent piracy.
The extra development time will allow us to finalize and polish Empire, making it the most accomplished and epic of the Total War series." said Kieran Brigden, Studio Communications Manager at The Creative Assembly. "There is a great deal of anticipation around Empire: Total War and we want to ensure that it is the benchmark for strategy games upon its release.

    Meh, whatever.

Never had any issues with playing MP on STEAM anyways. Best examples would be TF and L4D.

I think that Steam is a huge step up from GameSpy. GameSpy is aweful: matches keep crashing and dying during and even before you start them. Steam is reliable and a good way forward for Total War Multiplayer. They just have to fix up some of the communications whilst in-game (which it looks as if they have from the NTW previews) and it'll be fine.

Try -1 days, as per Empire.

The citizens of Ansbach believed the animal to be a werewolf, a reincarnation of their late and cruel Bürgermeister, whose recent death had gone unlamented.

Steam is rubbish andI`m pissed off with CA for their selfish, greedy, banal and uncaring horse- blinkered myopic, brain-dead attitude in refusing to allow everyone the choice to use or not use it to play their games.

If I could only get one of them and find out exactly why they thought that a NO OPTIONAL Empires would be a good idea, I would be happier. Ca was once a company that provided games for EVERYONE, not just the SELECT who had or wanted to play their games through the internet.

of the all told 2400 plus posts, I have no doubt, as I have seen many of them before joining this forum, that there is a complaint with much ranting in each one-just cool it. People don't even need you to post, they just have to imagine it. Just for once say something either simple on a topic, or constructive please. Too much whining and hate already

From my post it seems more like a decision on SEGA.

Besides, it's either that or on-line activation or something else and they'll have to make up their own platform for support which will be quite crappy. STEAM already provides everything that CA wouldn't need to make up for their support and MP.

Too bad though I was hoping to be able to slay you as an Alien on the new Aliens vs. Predators, too bad.

some people dont like Steam, doesnt mean they dont have the internet...
Not much you can do about it.

Aside from on-line activation lots of publishers these days look forward to using these platforms to provide support and digital distribution for their games like Stardock and WINDOWS LIVE. With Starcraft 2 coming out there's going to be another platform we'll have to download in order to use it.

That's just the times. With digital distribution and internet the publishers can save money by NOT having to print out those boxes and such with a large audience (It's expensive to print out boxes and manuals you know and discs).

Just like how we use to use floppy disks, then CD's, then DVDs for games. Soon it'll be blu-ray and we'll all have to change.
