    It's still better than this.

"Religion has actually convinced people that there's an invisible man -- living in the sky -- who watches everything you do, every minute of every day. And the invisible man has a special list of ten things he does not want you to do.. And if you do any of these ten things, he has a special place, full of fire and smoke and burning and torture and anguish, where he will send you to live and suffer and burn and choke and scream and cry forever and ever 'til the end of time! ..But He loves you." George Carlin

Lol, that video perfectly highlights the great dividing line between atheists and theists:a sense of humour. And they give us such good material to make light of (Plain common sense being another one lol)

I always found Carlin's expressions to be a main part of his humour, so I thought that it would be due justice to put the video of him saying it, in

    Wouldnt it be

    Religion:

a belief that there was the most complex thing ever possible before anything else ever existed that floating in nothinginess, doing nothing, untill he magically created everything from nothing for no reason, but didnt create everything at once for no reason, and then didnt need to rest but did, and then created extensive fossile records and DNA that allows scientists to follow evolution just to with anyone who knows anything about science.

    makes perfect sense

I think that I should quickly point out, before someone else does, that 'Atheism' constitutes NO belief, rather than a belief in anything. Like it says in the picture

Are threads where the OP has no discussion in it allowed?

No. However I spotted this earlier and thought that it made a good exception since he could have simply typed it out without using the picture.

More on topic -- Other than the act of creation of the universe itself, what is in the post that is really a question of religion in any case? You do not need to be an atheist to rely on physics and other processes of nature to explain and justify creation of life and evolution.

No they are not, you could report it.

I'm not going to, because Carlin found his way in

I have a New Age friend who wouldn't agree with a single thing in it, despite being atheist as well.

Well, no, because it has nothing to do with atheism and is about the creation of life.

Only a cognitive failure would cause this to appear to be a definition of atheism... I think I smell a creationist around here somewhere...

I think Helm is an atheist who was daring people to agree witht this absurd definition of atheism so he could show how wrong they were. It didn't work.

None the less, I am happy to play devil's advocate and argue that this is precisely what atheists think if anyone is that desperate for an argument that they are willing to argue with some one who doesn't believe the position they are espousing. (I'm an intellectual pervert in many ways)

I don't know, what is yours Helm? We all know your definition of religion though, no need to go about that. I'm well aware I'm taking a swim in volcanic lava while a bunch of carrion birds hover around for a chance to pick a piece of flesh out of me.

No, I don't. Atheism means that you don't believe in a god.
If it would be the definition of creation of life according to some scientific theory, I still wouldn't agree since "magic" has little to do with science. Unlike religion.
