    Default Help a noob?

    I've been playing RTW for ages and have been roaming these forums for quite some time. One question I have right now is how can I change the stance of the hoplites in RTW. I have Roma Surrectum 1.6, and I hate the way they fight, holding their spears up like the legionaires do when they throw their pila. Is there any way I can go into the text files and change the animations like stance and attacks so that they hold their spears down more, like the phalanx hoplites just without the long pikes?

    I hope you understand what I mean.

    Thanks.

    It's more historically accurate that way. that's how the classical Greek phalanxes held their spears when in battle ready positions in the phalanx.
    O merciful God, I have such need of Your mercy now. Not for myself, but for my knights, for this is truly their hour of need. Deliver them from their trials ahead and I will pay You a thousand fold with any sacrifice You ask of me. And if in Your wisdom, You should determine that sacrifice must be my life for theirs; so that they can once again taste the freedom that is so long been denied to them, I will gladly make that covenant. My death will have a purpose. I ask no more than that.

    If you want historical authenticity, go play Europa Barbarorum. Rome: Total War was never meant to be an historically accurate game, but rather a stylized version of ancient history. If you don't want the hoplites to hold their spears in an historically inaccurate manner, I suggest one of the several historical accuracy mods out there.

    Otherwise, there are plenty of people on this site who modify Rome: Total War, and I'm sure what you ask would be relatively easy for somebody of their skill to do.

    Oh I am aware of that. I know my fair share of history, I just think its so odd looking. But if there isn't any easy way to change the mod, I'll just live with it.

    Thanks for the help.

    I canīt understand you both. Whatīs so bad with this (historical correct!) overhand look?

    @FaithFul:
    Anyway, it would be better to ask this question in the Roma Surrectum Forum rather then in the normal RTW forum. They might help you with this request. Maybe thereīs an easy (and not too complex) way of fixing it for your purpose.

    I personally love using hoplites like that. they can run and when they charge they get a higher bonus! they arent slow like big poop. that way you can use them as a hammer in the hammer-anvil-tactic

    They are like Triarii for other factions - also they are an alternative for phalanx factions to get a few battles
    without using the same tactics over and over again. I mean nothing against a good ole phalanx but it's good
    to have the more mobile hoplites in the second hand.
